CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents in detail the methodology of the study. It includes the research design,
subjects of the study and sampling scheme, data gathering instrument validation of the
instrument, collection and treatment of data.

Research Design

The researcher makes use of the descriptive correlational research design utilizing
documentary analysis. The research is descriptive since primary purpose is to describe, relate,
interpret and analyze the level of Self-Efficacy Beliefs as Predictor to English Proficiency of
Grade 9 Students.
Subjects of the Study and Sampling Scheme

The subjects of the study were comprised the respondents of Laoac National High School.
There are 144 (One hundred fourty-four) Grade 9 student-respondents. Specifically, 5
(sections).
The study employed stratified sampling in choosing the sets of respondents was implemented to
obtain fairness on the result.
