I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of 60 minutes discussion, the pupils should be able to:
1. Analyze preposition of place (on, in, under, between, below, above).
2. Create sentences using preposition of place.

Yesterday, we studied about

Where is the Faculty room?
The Faculty room is beside the Principal’s office.

Our topic for today is Prepositions
which Show Location.

2. Presentation of Objectives
But before we proceed to our lesson,
these are the objectives that we are
going to attain. Please read.
1. Analyze preposition of place (on,
in, under, between, below, above).
2. Create sentences using
preposition of place.
3. Activity
Now let’s have a drill.
What are these?
A box and a ball.
You are going to demonstrate in front
the position of this ball in relation with
this box using the sentences that I will
provide you.
Are you ready?

1. The ball is on the box.

2. The ball is above the box.

3. The ball is under the box.

4. The ball is in the box.

5. The ball is between two boxes.

4. Analysis
Now that we already demonstrated
the position of the ball in relation with
the box, let’s analyse the sentences.

Will you read the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th


sentences? Then write the underlined
words on the board?
Pupils will read the sentences and write the

Those words indicate location.

They also indicate position in relation to other
things.

So therefore, what do you call these
words that indicate location and
position in relation to other things?
Those words are preposition.

Now, when do we use the prepositions


“on” and “above”?
We use the prepositions “on” and “above” to
indicate upper location/position.

What about “under” and “below”?
We use “under” and “below” to indicate a lower
location/position.
When do we use “in”?
We use “in” to indicate that the object is at rest or
within a place.
What about the preposition
“between”?
We us “between” suggests the middle position of
two things or sides.

6. Application
Alright! It seems that you clearly
understand our lesson. So, let us have
a group activity.

I will group you into four groups. You


are going to construct a sentence
using the pictures that I will give to
you. You have to finish it before 5
minutes ends.
