MATH 9: Coordinates and Lines

Product-Oriented Task Design for Coordinates and Lines

Objective: Create a scrap book containing problems in Coordinates and Lines

Performance Task: Scrapbook

Learning Competencies:

1. To make a scrapbook containing problems and solutions in particular topic in


coordinates and lines.
2. To develop their creativity in making a scrapbook.
3. To recall the formulas and concepts learned in coordinates and lines.

Learning Episodes:

1. Each students must create a scrapbook based on their assigned topic. The
included topics are as follows:
a. The Cartesian Coordinates System
b. Distance Between Two Points
c. Midpoint of a Segment
d. Division of a Line Segment
e. Area of Triangle
f. Inclination and Slope
g. Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
h. Angle Between Two Lines
i. Equation of Lines
2. The scrapbook must contain definition of terms, formulas and problems with
complete solutions. They can use internet, lectures or other reference books
to look for the problems.
3. Each topic must contain exactly three problems. If applicable, it is better to
use word problems or real-life problems.
4. Four students will be assigned in a particular topic. The topics will be given
through draw lots.
5. Creativity is required in this particular performance task. The dimension of
the scrapbook is 8’ x 8’.

6. The passing of the project will be on Tuesday (March 26, 2019). Deduction of
5 points per day will be given for every late projects.
