Make sure equipment such as gas detector, ventilation blower and
confined space entry tripod is in good condition.
Conduct thorough inspection of equipment to detect deficiency prior to
use
Ensure equipment are properly calibrated and with valid calibration
certificate
Always read instructional manual before using. Make sure
specifications are met.
Ensure the personal protective equipment and devices are according
to standard and regulatory specifications
Trained workers in the proper use, maintenance and care of personal
protective equipment and devices
Atmosphere testing shall be performed prior to every entry when the
space is vacant
After a 10 minute ventilation period if ventilation is necessary and at
least hourly for permit-required confined spaces.
More frequently, if conditions suspicions warrant.
Calibrate Air Monitoring Equipment before use

mechanical means to maintain acceptable atmospheric levels
