Construction of LRT-1 to

Taft Avenue

From the grand boulevard, name after the 27th President


of United States, William Howard Taft, the Avenue starts from
Pasig river bank near the City Hall of Manila running to the end of
Baclaran in the City of Pasay. The Busy Streak Road of Taft
Avenue, create node of intersection that provide business an easy
location of establishment, increase of potential consumers and
provides a fast travel from different part of manila. But the glory
of the street was lost gradually swallowed by modernization,
which includes the construction of Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) in
the 1980s. Eight of the Twenty Stations, from United Nation
Avenue in Manila to Baclaran in Pasay City, are place in Taft
Avenue.

People coming from both North and South part of Metro


Manila coincides in the road of Taft avenue. Base of the data of
LRT1, 350,000 commuters rides the LRT-1 every day. This numbers
of people helps business investors to invest building
establishments in Taft avenue. That provides them a space where
people can stop and go easily to the area.

In relation, business consumers coming using the LRT-1


buying their products and services, provide an increase of income.
People buy their product, because of accessibility. Also with the
connection of the nodes to the different cities surrounding Taft
ave. Business Transaction from different establishment helps in
providing Income to the Business.
In addition to that, consumers and workers gains in the
construction of LRT that help to travels from areas in the Taft
avenue.

But, with the construction of LRT imposed not only


positive but also negative effect to the business establishment in
the Taft avenue. Pollution of the historical sites, as Taft Avenue is
a intersection of large number of commuters. Southbound Buses
coming from cative pass along the road with the relation to the
provincial bus terminals that are located in Pasay. Also Jeepney
(PUJ) and FX (PUV) coming from the Quezon City have Terminal
station below the stations of Taft Avenue. This increase the
carbon emission that pollute the heritage site of the area.

Although publics travel using LRT-1, business people using


their private vehicle negatively cause traffic with the construction
of LRT. With the statistical study of the Land Transportation Office
(LTO) with no specific traffic violation with the construction of LRT
reported of 111.89 % of increase in traffic violation in 2010.

With the number of people traveling to the Taft Avenue,


the construction of LRT-1 helps in proving a fast and effective
transaction for the business establishments but also imposed
problems like traffic and pollution that will cause some
complication to the Business Establishments.
