PIQ- 1- Leadership

1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively

influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.

In the past month, my family has been going through a health issue with my grandma and

has been at the hospital during that time. With this situation going on, I believe that I have taken

leadership and step up to be the older sister that I am. In this kind of situation that my family has

been going through has impacted me differently than others. Being in this situation has helped

me grow as a person.

To me I stepped up to be the older sister and taking charge. I am a leader to my siblings

because I have to know when something’s wrong or right I believe as I grow older I have more

responsibilities that fall one me. It takes a lot of hard work because everything you do is seen by

your siblings and takes a lot to be the best you can be. Not many things can be done throughout

the day. We have to be able to be with her all day and night in case something happens. Now it

makes me more in charge of my three siblings. I have done more throughout the day like clean

around the house do my homework help my brothers with their homework. While my mom is at

the hospital taking care of my grandma, I have been learning to do more around the house like

clean and do different kinds of chores. With in this past month I would try to set up my schedule
for the week and see what I had to do after I got out of school. After coming from school my

mom would just tell me simple instructions on what to do. By the time my mom would go to the

hospital I had to see what I was going to be doing first and how long it would take. On top of

everything I had to do my own homework. At the end of the day I would see my mom tired

because everything that is going on throughout the day.

So I had to be a bigger person and take care of my sibling’s. I think I have grown as a

much better person understanding what it’s like to go through a tough situation. I have gone

through situations where the family is impacted with a hard situation but I have never

experienced something where I have a bigger roll to.
