Learning objectives: At the end of the lesson students should be familiar with mitosis meiosis
sexual reproduction differences and similarities

Materials: Text book study guide page 711- 716


Instructional procedures: Class discussion will be integrated base of the lesson.

Lesson: Students will be given the syllabus and will be expected of them from this section by
CAPE. Give an explanation of sexual reproduction and the link to fertilization.
- Explain the process of fertilisation and the parts that are involved. Go over past knowledge of
mitosis and meiosis re introduce the definitions for both.
- Explain the reason for meiosis and what would happen should it not take place.
- Talk about randomization and independent assortment and have student explain why it is good
for variation.
-Go through the meanings of unisexual and bisexual as it related to unicellular and multicellular
organisms
-Students will go through the table with the differences and similarities between asexual and a
sexual reproduction.
-Discuss the passage about the adaption of plants to living on land.
-To wrap up go through the AOG cycle and wrap up with the formation of tetrads.
-Students will be given words to look up for the class the following week pertaining to the
flower.
