Detailed Lesson Plan in Science IV

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
a. Identify ways to protect oneself from the exposure to intense light and
heat of the sun.
b. Demonstrates the proper use of the things (hat, sunblock lotion,
sunglasses, and umbrella) on protecting oneself from the excessive heat
of the sun.
c. Appreciate the importance of hat, sunblock, sunglasses and umbrella in
preventing ailments that we can get from too much exposure from the
sun.

A. Topic: Ways on protecting oneself from intense light and heat.
B. Reference: Science Learner’s Material p. 234-240
C. Concept: The awareness about the bad effects of heat could enable us to
come up with the preventive ways to protect ourselves.

Umbrella, Sunglasses, Sunblock lotion

“So for today, we are going to discuss why


we need to be protected from the sun and
what are the different things that we should
have to be safe when we are under the sun.”

“The sun gives off heat and light. We all


need some sun exposure. In fact, our body

“To protect ourselves from the light and heat


of the sun, we have here the things that we
must have in order to get rid of the ailments
that we could get from the sun.”

“I know that you are all familiar with this most

(The teacher will present a sun screen lotion) “When it is hot ma’am it helps us
to protect our eyes.”

“The last item, are you familiar with this


class?”

“Yes but this lotion has SPF or sun protection


factor. Sunscreens are used to protect the skin
from the harmful effects of the sun. They help
to prevent sunburn and other skin diseases.”

(The teacher will ask one pupil to go in front “It’s a lotion ma’am.”

putting a sunscreen lotion)

“Always remember to wear and bring these


things whenever you are going outside and
will stay under the sun for a long time to be
protected, okay?”
