I. Lesson Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to:

a) Identify the beneficial effects of the sun on living things.


b) Recognize the harmful effects of the sun on living things
c) Enumerate safety precautions to avoid negative effects of too much exposure to
sunlight.

II. Content

a. Topic: Practice Safety Precautions on the Effect of the Sun

b.  Science Idea(s): 

The sun was born about 4.6 billion years ago in a giant, spinning cloud of gas and dust called
the solar nebula.

Galileo used his telescope to learn more.

Ancient Greek called the Sun Helios, and this word is still used to describe the sun today.

c. Science Process(es): Observation is done with this topic because it needs our five senses
and how we learn about the world around us including the idea of precautions on the harmful
effects of the sund.

A. Elicit

Good morning Class, I am Teacher Marco and


our topic for this day is all about “Practice Safety
Precautions On the Effects of the Sun”

The Sun is a star that formed 4.6 billion years


ago in our Milky Way Galaxy. It is the largest and
most massive object in our Solar System, whose
energy enables life on our planet.  We all know
that Sunglasses, umbrellas, sunscreen and hats
or caps are the safest things to use in order to
measure the safety of individuals. Umbrella is  
one of the things to avoid the harmful effects of
the sun, we use it when we go outside on
whatever go, it protects our body from the intense
heat and light. Sunglasses are one of the safety
things we should consider in the precautionary
measures, if we don’t use sunglasses our eyes
suffer from it. Sunscreen is a safe thing to protect
our skin from intense heat, when we use
sunscreen, we don’t suffer from sunburn or
anything that damages our skin. Hats and caps
can help to protect our hair from the intense heat
and light on the sun. And it protects not only our
hair but our scalp. Not yet Sir!

Safety Precautions on the harmful effects of the


sun is very important not only me but all
individuals who encountering all the problems on
the effects of the sun light and heat, so now you
know all the things to avoid it, when you go
outside you may use all this thing to protect your
body and also your families. I’m encouraging
everyone to practice in their homes to lessen the
problems of it.

Class do you have an idea on the 5 steps in


precautions om the harmful effects of the sun?

Okay Class, this are the 5 Steps in Precautions


under the harmful effects of the sun Sir,  the things that might happen to me if I
won’t protect myself from the intense sun’s
1. Wear right clothing heat and light are that my skin can get bad
2. Use right amount of sunscreen to avoid sunburn and my skin cells can be damaged
sunburn too.
3. Use umbrella everywhere we go
4. Use hat or caps to protect our hair and
scalp
5. Use sunglasses to protect your eyes from
intense light.

So, class I have a question!

the immune system and skin cells. Just like us,
animals will also get sick if they are exposed to
intense sun’s heat and light. Likewise, plants will
wilt and die when they are exposed to excessive
sun’s heat and light.
