MIKA’S SCIENCE REVIEWER:

BRAIN - the Brain is the control center of the Nervous

System and is located within the skull

LUNGS - are two sponge-like, cone shaped structures that

fill most of the chest cavity. To provide oxygen from inhaled
air to the body stream and to exhale carbon dioxide

HEART – muscular organ that pumps blood through the

blood vessels by repeated, rhythmic contractions

STOMACH – digestion of the food through production of

gastric juices which break down, mix and turn the food into
thin liquid

INTESTINES - located between the stomach and the anus

SMALL INTESTINE – to absorb most ingested food

LARGE INTESTINE – absorption of water and
excretion of solid waste materials
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
- circulates blood around the body via the HEART,
ARTERIES and VEINS

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
- to absorb nutrients and remove waste
- process food

EXCRETORY SYSTEM
- removes excess, unnecessary materials from the
body fluids of an organism

NERVOUS SYSTEM
- collects and processes information through the
senses via nerves and the brain

URINARY SYSTEM
- the system where kidneys filter blood to produce
urine and get rid of waste

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
- the sex organs required for production of off-springs

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
- brings air in and out of the lungs to absorb oxygen
and removes carbon dioxide

SKELETAL SYSTEM
- bones maintain the structure of the body and its
organs
- supports the body

MUSCULAR SYSTEM
- enables movement (with skeletal system)
