METHODOLOGY STATEMENT FOR TREATMENT ON EXISTING ROAD

As per Highway design: RP002-R0-PP-Pavement_Design_Report_BIND

Following are the Proposed Combination for Profile Corrective Course (PCC) for existing road.

Considering the above table, PCC will be done as per the drawing enclosed.

Case – 1: In this case PCC with DBM will be laid for profile correction. PCC Layer 1 width will be
3.5 m (Half width of existing carriage-way) for camber correction and the other layers width will be
full width of existing carriage-way. PCC by DBM will be laid as per specified thickness up to the
bottom of wearing coarse. The partial width of carriage way on both sides falling in shoulder portion
of existing road shall be treated as per new carriageway treatment.

Methodology
Methodology no 16, mention in Appendix D of this QAM shall be used for this item in line with
contract agreement and standard specification.

Case -2: In this case BM material will be used for profile correction.PCC Layer 1 width will be
half the width of the existing carriage way for camber correction and the above layers width will be
full width of existing carriage way. PCC by BM will be laid as per specified thickness up to the

bottom of overlay portion. The partial width of carriage way on both sides falling in shoulder portion
of existing road shall be treated as per new carriageway treatment.

Methodology
Methodology no 16, mention in Appendix D of this QAM shall be used for this item in line with
contract agreement and standard specification.

Case – 3: In this case milling of the existing road will be carried out and PCC will be carried out by
WMM and the above layers will be laid as per new carriage way treatment. The portion of new
carriage-way falling in the shoulder portion of existing road will be developed simultaneously as per
new carriage-way treatment.

Methodology
Methodology no 12, mention in Appendix D of this QAM shall be used for this item in line with
contract agreement and standard specification.

Case – 4: In this case milling of the existing road will be carried out and PCC will be carried out
by GSB and the above layers will be laid as per new carriage way treatment. The portion of new
carriage-way falling in the shoulder portion of existing road will be developed simultaneously as per
new carriage-way treatment.

Methodology
Methodology no 11, mention in Appendix D of this QAM shall be used for this item in line with
contract agreement and standard specification.

Case – 5: In this case milling of the existing road will be carried out to required depth and the main
carriage way will be reconstructed as per new carriageway treatment. Methodology mentioned in
QAM.

Case – 6: In this case the new carriage way will be reconstructed as per new carriageway treatment
without dismantling the existing road. Methodology mentioned in QAM.

Methodology for treatment on Joints

MCL-4180-QAM Rev. R 0 Page 162
For treatment on joints between existing road where profile corrective course is to be done, milling of
the existing road up to 1.0 m from edge will be carried out (As explained in the above drawing). The
milled surface will be treated with WMM material so as to maintain proper bonding between
widening portion and the existing carriageway where profile corrective course is to be done.
