Section 2.
The requirements for aspirants are as follows:

General By- Laws
Article I
Name, Identity and Domicile
Section 1. The official name of the ministry shall be known as
San Sebastian Cathedral Altar Servers or SSCAS.
1.1. Any server shall not use the name of
the ministry to secure special privilege
to serve to other parishes unless
permission is granted by the SSCSAS
President and Spiritual Director.
Section 2. The SSCAS shall have its office at the San Sebastian
Cathedral, F. Tanedo St., Tarlac City.
Section 3. The official motto of the ministry shall be “Fortes
fide et amore in Deum” that is translated as “Strong Faith and
Love for God”.
ARTICLE II
OBJECTIVES AND DUTIES
Section 1. Members of the ministry shall strive to have a faith
deeply rooted in Christ as they perform their duties as
servants of the altar.
Section 2. Servers must create brotherhood and camaraderie
among them.
Section 3. The Respective Duties of the members shall be as
follows:
3.1. To observe schedule strictly and
faithfully.
3.2. Excuse letter signed by a parent/
guardian must be submitted in case of absence.
3.3. To look for a reliever of his schedule in
his absence.
3.4. To attend monthly meetings (1st and
last Sunday of the month) and assemblies set by
officers. If a server cannot attend the meeting, he
shall inform any of the officers of the ministry with a
valid reason.
3.5. To pay a monthly due of ten pesos
(P10).
ARTICLE III
Admission and Investiture
Section 1. Accepting application of aspiring server shall be
announced on Sunday masses.
 Grade 4 up
 Has taken his first communion
 Knowledgeable of the basic prayers
(Apostle’s Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary, and
Glory Be)
Section 3. An aspirant shall undergo formation and training on
the four pillars of the ministry, which are Spirituality,
Character, Service and Community.
3.1. Formation shall be set every weekend during
school days and on a daily basis during summer vacation.
3.2. The formation shall last for 8- 16 sessions
depending on the performance of the aspirants with the
recommendation and approval of the officer in charge and the
Spiritual Director.
Section 4. An aspirant shall be observing during masses upon
the call of the officers.
4.1. Proper attire and etiquette shall be observed.

Section 5: An aspirant shall attend all the meetings set by the
officers.
Section 6: An aspirant who completed the formation shall be
qualified as an altar server and shall be invested.
Section 7: The presider of the Investiture shall be the Spiritual
Director of the Ministry.
Article IV
ETIQUETTE
Section 1. An altar server shall possess and maintain a good
character.
Section 2. Silence shall be observed during Holy Mass.
Section 3. Server shall be in the parish 15 minutes prior to his
schedule.
3.1. A late altar server who arrives after the holy
gospel shall not be allowed to serve. Instead, he shall serve at
the other schedule of mass within the day and inform any of
the officers.
Section 4. All forms of swearing shall be prohibited especially
during Holy Mass.
Section 5. Theft shall not be tolerated.
Section 6. Bullying shall be strongly discouraged.
Section 7. Smoking and drinking within the church premises
and public places shall not be allowed.
