Introduction

RCDC is a RCCDesigning , detailing, drawing and documentation software.

The following elements can be designed in RCDC

1. Pile-cap

2. Footings - Regular / Isolated & Eccentric

3. Columns,Pedestals & Shear walls

4. Beam

5. Slab

The salient features of RCDC are:

1. Import analysis data directly from popular analysis engines. The analysis engines supported are

a. Staad Pro (*.std file),

b. E-tabs (*.mdb file),

c. E-tabs (*.edb file),

d. RAM (*.rss file).

2. Design Code Included in RCDC are

a. Indian Standard - IS 456 + 13920 - 1993

b. Indian Standard - IS 456 + 13920 - 2016

c. British Standard - BS 8110-97

d. American Code - ACI 318-2011

e. Euro Code - EN 02-2004

f. Euro Code - EN 02-2004 MS NA

g. Euro Code - EN 02-2004 UK NA

h. Euro Code - EN 02-2004 SS NA

3. Following data is extracted by RCDC from the analysis file

a. Member and node geometry, can we re-frame the points a' & b' by point "A" below?

b. Member section properties and orientation.

A. Entire model geometry including the section properties, other specifications assigned to the model.

c. Load - Definations, Cases and Combination data,

d. MemberAnalysis forces for all basic load cases and load combinations ,

4. Post reading the data, the software’s in-built intelligence allows it to automatically detect the following
geometrical conditions:

a. Detection of all slabs (enclosed regions) in a plan, even though slabs not modeled,

b. Beam continuity and set of continuous beams at a level,

c. Vertical continuum of columns and walls,

d. Identification of all columns that will have a footing.

5. User can set all design parameters and design & detail all elements at the touch of a button

6. User can edit the detailing suggested and alter the specific design of any one member by selecting the
same

7. Post finalization of the design and detailing process the engineer can generate a number of text and
drawing reports

a. Drawing Outputs

i. Layout Drawings.

ii. Detailed drawings in the form of elevations and cross sections / GA drawing.

iii. TIn plan detailing for slabs and footings.

iv. Text schedules.

v. Fabrication Detailing - Bar Bending Schedule.

b. Text reports

i. Detailed design calculation reports

ii. Design summary

iii. Bill of Quantities (3 formats)

iv. Other element specific text reports.

Introduction

The RCDC BBS module converts the design and detailing into detailed Bar Bending outputs.

The outputs include:

1. Bar placement drawings with bar tagging

2. Schedule in CAD format

3. Schedule in spreadsheet format

The BBS generated is compliant with the relevant codes of practise and all settings done by the user in
RCDC.

Rebar Tag Manager

Bar tagging refers to the description of rebars in the BBS drawing. RCDC gives user the flexibility to define
his own Bar Tagging system enabling him to control the information that is provided in the drawing.
Bar Tagging system can be uniquely defined for:
1. Longitudinal reinforcement; Top and Bottom
2. Shear reinforcement
3. Face reinforcement

The text string that will be displayed in the drawings can be configured in the Bar Tagging Manager.
User can select:
(i) type of data to be displayed
(ii) order in which it is to be displayed
(iii) define a Prefix or a Suffix
(iv) the separator
Once this is defined a preview of the proposed text is displayed to help finalise the bar tagging.

1. Type of data

Geometry Modification

RCDC allows user to modify some geometry of beams and columns to help the user use the actual physical
geometry to generate BB
1 Beam

Settings

Some specific settings can be done for slabs and columns for the generation of accurate BBS. These are in
addition to the ‘Design and Detailing Settings’.

1. Slabs

Options to define preferred anchorage for top and bottom reinforcement at end and continuous supports.

2. Column

Option to define number of edges to be shown in the detailed drawing.

Generate BBS

RCDC gives the user many options when generating the BBS.

Options available:

1. Prescribed Maximum bar length

2. Start bar number. In case a previous session is being extended the start bar number can be incremented
as required
3. Rounding off in the Total Bar Length
4. Option to over write development length ‘Ld’ factor. All combinations of concrete and steel grade used
and the appropriate Ld factor will be displayed. User can over write if required.
5. Option to use continuous bar numbering or resetting for every element
6. Option to display bar shape of Shape code (id) in the BBS
7. The BBS schedule table can be generated in the CAD file, in a spreadsheet or Both
8. Option to generate the BBS to screen (which can be saved) or write to file directly
