THE TEACHING AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Specific Tasks

1. Visit a class and see it as learning environment.

2. Write your observations with regard to the key elements.

Key Elements Observations

1. Classroom is free from distractions. As what I had observed the classroom was free from
distractions and it appears it exceptionally helpful for
learning. The classroom is very conducive to learn
because of its peaceful environment.

2. The students are well set before the class. Before the classes started, the president of the class
instructed her fellow classmates to fall in line outside
of the room then one by one proceed inside. After
that the teacher prepared her instructional materials
with her objectives of the lesson then they started the
class with a prayer.
3. There is an active engagement of students. In my observation the class appears that they enjoyed
the classes well because their teacher gave the lesson
with activity. During their lesson they were engaging a
group discussion and group game appertain to their
lesson and as what I had observed the class there is an
active engagement of students.
4. Educational noise is observed and tolerated. During my observation and during their group
discussion the learners were going noise not because
they talking something that doesn’t appertain to the
lesson but because they were noise because of they
discussed something about from their lesson of that
day and their teacher tolerated but not totally.

5. The use technology is encouraged to enhance As what I had observed, the class used educational
learning. technology during discussion such as the LCD
projector and laptop consequently it helps the
learners to enhance and encouraged to learn and it
seems they were feel happy and interested to learn.

Reflection for activity# 1

Specific Task: Capsulize the given key elements and reflect how you can make your own learning environment more
relevant and responsive to the needs of your students in the 21st century.

Classroom serve as a learning ground to the learners and it is vital for the learners to
have a helpful domain where they can do their learning exercises. As a future educator I will
make a learning domain that understudies in the 21st century would adjust nature in the
meantime would learn. I will make a gaining domain that free from diversions and for me I
think it’s great to have a peaceful classroom so understudies will effectively to learn. Besides I
will make a learning situation that make my understudies feel sheltered, good and inspired to
learn. I will put pictures, quotes that are extremely instructive so the learners will feel
intrigued to learn.
I will create also a learning practices, human support and physical environments that
will support the teaching and learning of 21st century skill outcomes and supports professional
learning communities that enable educators to collaborate, share best practices, and integrate
21st century skills into classroom practice. As a teacher I will allow equitable access to quality
learning tools, technologies, and resources then I will provide architectural and interior
designs for group, team, and individual learning. And lastly I will support expanded community
and international involvement in learning, both face-to-face and online. I will make sure that
the classroom is clean, orderly, and inviting. Moreover I will organize the physical space of my
classroom for movement and interaction then make it easy for students to pull their desks
together to do small group work. Set it up so that it is easy for me to walk around. It is also
important to think about the environment of the school, beyond the classroom because it
served as the fish port of learning. Teachers should have ability to create healthy classroom
environment in which all types of learners can feel valued, welcomed, respected and involved.

THE TEACHING AND LEARNING ENGAGEMENT

Specific Tasks

1. Visit a class
2. See how each principle of teaching and learning is observed/practiced in the teaching and learning process.
Principles of Teaching and Learning Classroom Activities

1. Teaching is a learning process. Teachers let the learners do the learning activity. Like
for example instead writing in the board the meaning
and a certain information about their lesson, what they
did is that they made a group activity and let the
learners find out what is meant by that or they let the
learners find out the answer.
2. The more senses that are involved, the more Instead of giving directly the lesson, the teacher
and the better learning showed some pictures, motion pictures and audio
visual and then let the learners to give their own
interpretation.
3. A non-threatening atmosphere enhances As what I had observed the class was very organize and
learning. teachers managed well the class. Learners were very
participated and behaved and the teacher not tolerate
bullies. Both teacher and learners has a good
relationship with each other.
4. Emotion has the power to increase retention Teachers appealed to student’s intellect as well to their
and learning. emotions. As what I had observed the teacher has a
good communication skills in terms of teaching, they
emphasized word that needs to remember so in that
way learners will easily retain the lesson. Ms. Maloto
and Alupit taught with emotion and conviction.
5. Good teaching goes beyond recall of During my observation, before they start the class, the
information teacher recall what they had discussed last meeting
through the assign student and report what they’d
discussed. Aside from that the teacher also asked a
certain question related to the lesson and tapping their
prior knowledge.
6. Learning is meaningful when it is connected to As what I had observed during discussion the teacher
student’s everyday life. connects her lesson to the real world situation. Like for
example in a mapeh class, the teacher let the students
find out the different elements of music and genres in
the 21st century.

Reflection for Activity # 2

Specific Tasks: Reflect how these principles of teaching and learning affect the successful delivery of instruction.

I have learned from our observation on the classroom application of the principles of
learning is that for a teacher to be effective, one first thing to do is to get the learners
attention in order to have a better interaction between the learner and the teacher. Other
than that, make the students feel that learning is a must most especially on the part of the
learners. Always motivate them to learn and pursue their studies and never easily give-up until
they reach whatever their goals in life. Being an effective and efficient teacher is not an easy
task, it comes with great responsibility which requires patience, passion and love. As we
conduct our classroom observation, I observed that the teacher used various principles in
teaching that caters not only the intellectual but also the emotional aspect of the learners.

I also observed that in every principle the teacher used, she relates it to the personal
experiences of the students and to their multiple intelligences and individual differences, so
that she will be able to catch their attention and interest, and at the same time she can give
them educational needs. There are many ways to deliver instruction from the teacher or
facilitator to the students. This includes the use of effective instructional materials which can
enhance the delivery as well as learning itself. Teachers should always remember the
importance of variance of instructional materials to increase motivation among learners to go
with the lesson. As we foresee our future teaching career, those principles of learning and
teaching will also be adapt. And for them to learn effectively, we must always consider their
individual differences and multiple intelligences. And of course, learning is a collaborative
process, so through the combine effort of the teacher and student, teaching-learning process
will work effectively.

PEDAGOGIES OF TEACHING

Specific Tasks

1.Observe a class

2. Take a look at the methods/ approaches employed by the teacher.

3. Comment on how they are used in teaching.

Teaching Approaches/ Methods Comments

1. Inductive/ Deductive Method As what I had observed, both classes used more in
deductive method where teacher gives the
students a new concept, explains it, and then has
the students practice using the concept. For
example Ms. Maloto introduced about genres of
music then she explained the different and myriad
styles of music.

2. Discovery method As what I had observed, the learners performed an

experiment appertain form their lesson and then
they discussed ideas and made a conclusion.

3. Problem solving method During math class discussion Ms. Alupit gave a
problem solving and question appertain then the
student finding things out for themselves, looking
into problems, and asking questions.

4. Constructivist Approach After the discusssion, the class had their group
discussionthen the teacher provide questions
related from their lesson where learners construct
their own understanding and shared their ideas.

5. Cooperative learning approach During my observation they had their group game
quiz about different music styles then each group
were very cooperative answering the question and
the same time they learned and had fun.

Reflection for Activity # 3

Specific Tasks: Reflect how these methods and approaches enhnce learning in the classroom.

Effective teachers use an array of teaching strategies because there is no single,

universal approach that suits all situations. Through these methods and approaches will
enhance learning in the classroom. Some strategies are better suited to teaching certain skills
and fields of knowledge than are others. Some strategies are better suited to certain student
backgrounds, learning styles and abilities. With the use of a variety of instructing
methodologies that bolster intellectual engagement, connectedness to the more extensive
world, steady classroom situations, and acknowledgment of distinction, ought to be actualized
over all key learning and branches of knowledge. As a future teacher, we need to think what
would be the appropriate strategy that suit for the learners in order for them to mold as a
good and tangible student and promote the well being of students and as well as the school
community with that it will improve the students confidence and contributes to their sense of
purpose for being at school.

As a teacher I will build community confidence in the quality of learning and teaching in
the school. Students are not empty vessels to be filled with our expert knowlwdge and as a
teacher I will let my students construct their own understanding through their considered
learning experiences. Students need to feel safe to learn effectively and we need must be
flexible all the time in order to reach students learning in the class. Therefore a wide variety of
teaching strategies are essential in order to develop effective methods of teaching at the
highest level.
