Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of this activity, the FS student must be able to achieve the following intended learning outcomes:

1. identify the strategies used by the teacher that promotes numeracy skills, literacy skills, higher order thinking
skill;s
2. take an account on various strategies employed by the teacher; and
3. observe and categorize classroom communication strategies employed by the teacher that support learners’
maximum involvement and greater accomplishment.

LEARNING OVERVIEW:

Activity 1. focus on the pedagogical content knowledge that recognizes the importance of teachers’
mastery of content knowledge and its interconnectedness within and across curriculum areas, coupled with a
sound and critical understanding of the application of theories and principles of teaching and learning. This
activity further encompasses teachers’ ability to apply developmentally appropriate and meaningful pedagogy
grounded on content knowledge and pedagogy. It takes into account teachers’ proficiency in Mother Tongue,
Filipino and English in the teaching and learning process, as well as needed skills in the use of communication
strategies, teaching strategies, and technologies to promote high-quality learning outcomes.

Questions:

1. Are there other principles not applied by the teacher nor listed in the table? If yes write them on the 3
space provided.
Principle no. 1 “Effective learning begins with the setting of clear and high
expectations of learning outcomes.” is not illustrated nor applied by the teacher.
It is because the learning objectives are not present so that the goal of the
discussion is not clearly seen.

2. What skills are developed/enhanced during the learning process?

The skills that were developed during the learning process are collaboration
skills, communicating skills and listening skills. Collaboration skills are present
when the students connect their ideas to be able to answer the questions of their
teacher. Communicating skills are developed when there it happen the rapid
answer of the student wherein it is obviously seen that they are easily coping
with the lesson. Lastly, the students’ listening skills to clarify such queries.

3. What did the teacher do to enhanced/developed the needed skills?

The teacher uses a mini white board to solve the problem and while the students
are watching his solving the student will be able to analyze on how to solve the
problem. In addition, he approaches the student who did not follow the solution
and doing it again for the second time. And for the last time, he let his students
do their own solving.

Directions: Identify the strategy/technique used by the teacher throughout the learning process. Write
5
or attach proof/s below the column of either inductive method of teaching or deductive
method of teaching.

Procedure Strategy/Technique
Motivation The teacher presents a well suited activity that excites the minds of the
students.it is well suited because it is related to real-life situation. This strategy
captures the interest of the students to start participating in class.

Presentation of the lesson Firstly, the teacher presents an activity and followed by asking about the previous
discussion. The illustrated activity and their previous discussion serve as the key
to know that they are both related to arithmetic sequence.

Development of the lesson The teacher presents a problem and asking one of his students to guess the
possible numbers comes next to the given sequence. The strategy of the teacher
is to start with the basic arithmetic sequence and followed by quite complicated
one

Generalization/ Closure/ Drawing insights The teacher end up every subtopic to be clarified before proceeding to the next
subtopic. However, the teacher made the generalization simpler by flashing the
clarification of each solution.

Enrichment/ Application/Fixing Skills Firstly, the teacher uses a step by step procedure to visualize the basic
operations and followed by presenting a formula in finding the common
difference. Finally, the teacher illustrates the solution by solving in his mini white
board to further analyze by the students.

Assessment/evaluation This part is not observed

Agreement/Assignment Due to the lack of time, the proposed assessment/evaluation served as the
students’ assignment.

Analyze

Answer the following questions:

Are the learning principles applied by the teacher appropriate with the nature of the learners and learning learning
conditions? Why/Why not?
Yes, it is because the teacher shows fair and square in treating his students. However, the
teacher already knows that his students are diverse. So that, when he knows that the student
he called will not able to answer, he will call another student who are raising their hands.

Did you observed passive learners? If yes, what might be their reasons why they are passive/silent?

Yes, there would be a two reasons concerning with the passiveness of a student. First reason is that,
when he doesn’t have any idea in the whole discussion or still processing his/her learning. The second
reason is that, when a student is shy to answer.

Are the communication strategies used by he teacher appropriate to the level of the learners? Justify?

Yes, the communication skills of teacher is enough to support the diverse learner capable to cope with

4 If you are the teacher, what possible learning principle(s) and strategy(ies) would you apply to elicit meaningful
learning?
7
As a teacher, I would suggest “To develop mastery, students must acquire component skill, practice in
integrating them , and know when to apply what they have learned” because I do believe that every
learning, skills and other abilities must have limitation and their proper usage in order to call as a
mastery which is fruitful to have a meaningful learning.

Reflect

1. Among the principles of learning, which one is the most important for you? Substantiate your answer.

 Principle No.1 “Effective learning begins with the setting of clear and high expectations of learning
outcomes.” is the most important. Every action must have plans but when it comes to learning, it must
have goals. You will be able to learn if you have set your goals or your objectives. By the means of
learning objectives, your learning will be precise because it is well organized.

2. What insight did you learn from the class activities that you have observed?

 It is better to have many plans to support the learning of the learner. You can do such step by step
procedure, you can also show an operational method and you can also use the mini white board for
further explanation.
 It is important to present your goal or your leaning objectives
 It is good to have such a good communicating skills in order to have a nice class atmosphere.
