SETTING YOUR PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT: COMMITTING TO
THE PROCESS

You owe it to yourself to stay committed and trust the process. You won’t get everything
you want overnight, but who else deserves your hard work and devotion but yours
truly? It’s time to set your personal mission statement and focus in on those goals so
you can get one step closer to accomplishing them.

7
Exercise #2
Fill in the blanks!

I know that this is a process, and I won’t let one small slip up deter me from
my mission.

I will not sacrifice my ,

I choose to be in charge of my own decisions and behavior.

Starting today I am choosing to level up and go after my goals

wholeheartedly.

8
Moment of reflection...
How do you feel after making this commitment to yourself?
What are you going to do to keep the momentum?

9
Exercise #3
OWNING YOUR PERSONALITY: FLAWS AND ALL, SHOWING OFF WHAT
MAKES YOU UNIQUE

When your best friend starts spouting off about her insecurities can you recall the
urge you have to remind her of why her qualities — even her “flaws” — make her
who she is? So why not express that same appreciation and gratitude about yourself?

Take a look at the different personality spectrums below. According to the Myers
Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) we all have characteristics that fall somewhere on these
spectrums.

10
Exercise #3

dreams and even who we get along with.
List three things about your personality that make you so bomb-dot-com.

12
Exercise #4
WRITING YOUR OWN STORY: HOW TO KILL COMPARISON AND LIMIT
YOUR INFLUENCES

Where do you look when you’re setting goals? Your peers? Your role models? How
about yourself? Although it’s healthy to learn and grow from others, when we talk
about accomplishments, goals and next steps, the best place to look is within. You are
your own best competition, and true satisfaction will come with self-reflection.

13
Exercise #4
Here are some mantras to help you kill comparison and stay focused on your own
goals.

14
Moment of reflection...
Imagine this day, one year from now. What is your life like? What time do you wake
up? Where do you live? What are you working on?
Write your story how you see it, one year from now.

15
Exercise #5
15 CLARITY QUESTIONS: FOCUS IS THE FIRST STEP TO SUCCESS

Step one to getting closer to any goal is to focus in on what you want. This also applies
to self-discovery. Don’t get distracted by whatever’s stressing you out today. Instead,
dedicate some time to figuring out exactly what you want.

16
Exercise #5
These 15 questions will help you get clarity.

CLARITY QUESTIONS

1. If I had one year left on earth and money wasn’t an option, what would
I do?
2. What do I hold on to that I would be better off letting go?

3. What gets in my way of feeling joy and peace?

4. What do I love & value? What do I dislike and want less of?

5. Does my career align with my core values?

6. If I walk into a bookstore, which section am I drawn to?

7. Who do I love to spend time with and why?

8. Have I fulfilled the promises I made to myself? Why or why not?

9. What is the number one thing that, if I started doing it, would have the
biggest positive impact on my life?
10. In ten years’ time, what will be most important to me? Am I working
towards that?
11. Who do I need to become to do what I want to do?

12. What is my life’s purpose here?

13. How do I create a legacy of my life’s work?

14. Do I bring positive energy into people’s lives?

15. What do I really want, and how might I be stopping myself from getting
that?

17
Moment of reflection...
Take some time to answer the questions. Meditate on your answers.
Clarity awaits you!

18
Exercise #6
DEFINING YOUR MOTIVATION, YOUR INSPIRATION AND YOUR WHY

When things get hard, what will keep you going? Knowing the answer to that question
is essential to pushing through when the going gets tough. Once you know your
“why,” breaking down your goals will become even more attainable.

19
Exercise #6
In this Venn Diagram, list 5 things that inspire you, then list 5 things that motivate you.
Anything overlap? List those as your “why.”

YOUR YOUR YOUR

INSPIRATION WHY MOTIVATION

20
Moment of reflection...
If someone asked you what is your “why,” could you answer them?
In your own words prepare your why statement below.

21
Exercise #7
CARVING YOUR NICHE: EVEN IF YOU CAN DO IT ALL, SHOULD YOU?

Once you examine what you’re interested in and nail down what you’re good at, it’s
time to zero in and carve out your own niche. Sure, you could do it all if you tried, but
how much time could you really dedicate to each thing?

Think about where you want to invest your time (and even money), it matters.

22
Exercise #7
Use the graph below to get clear on exactly what you do and what you don’t do.

WHAT I DO WHAT I DON’T DO

23
Moment of reflection...
Get used to telling people “no.” Oftentimes we want to accept any kind of work we
can get, but the idea here is to focus. Draft up a quick response to someone who
requests you do work outside of what you defined above.
How could you guide them toward a service or product you do offer?

24
Exercise #8
MASTERING YOUR SKILLSET: HOW TO BECOME A DOMAIN EXPERT

If you’re going to solidify yourself as a top choice in your particular niche, you should
try your hardest to be an expert in your domain.

Own your space - confidence and expertise will follow. Embrace every aspect of what
you do and love, it will only help you to improve.

25
Exercise #8
Using the bar graph below, list your top 3 skillsets and your level of expertise.
Feel free to add in others as needed.

27
Exercise #9
HOW TO TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU DO: YOUR ELEVATOR PITCH SCRIPT

If you haven’t figured out how to describe your ideas, passions or what it is that you
do, how can you expect people to invest in or support you?

Not only does an elevator pitch help you convey your ideas to others, but it will help
you to remain focused on what you’re trying to do.

28
Exercise #9
Here’s a script to help you get started.
Fill in the blanks and use this script to help break the ice during your next introduction.
