नवधा भग त कहउँ तो ह पाह ।

सावधान सुनु ध मन माह ॥
थम भग त संत ह कर संगा।
स र र त मम कथा संगा॥1॥
म तुझसे अब अपनी नवधा भ कहता ँ। तू सावधान होकर सुन और मन म धारण कर। पहली भ है संत का स संग। सरी भ है मेरे कथा
संग म ेम॥1॥
Now I tell you the nine forms of Devotion; please listen attentively and cherish them in your mind. The first in order is
fellowship with the saints and the second is marked by a fondness for My stories.
गुर पद पंकज सेवा
तीस र भग त अमान।
चौ थ भग त मम गुन गन
करइ कपट त ज गान॥2॥
तीसरी भ है अ भमानर हत होकर गु के चरण कमल क सेवा और चौथी भ यह है क कपट छोड़कर मेरे गुण समूह का गान कर॥2॥
Humble service of the lotus feet of ones preceptor is the third form of Devotion, while the fourth type of Devotion
consists in singing My praises with a guileless purpose.
मं जाप मम ढ़ ब वासा।
पंचम भजन सो बेद कासा॥
छठ दम सील बर त ब करमा।
नरत नरंतर स जन धरमा॥3॥
मेरे (राम) मं का जाप और मुझम ढ़ व ास- यह पाँचव भ है, जो वेद म स है। छठ भ है इं य का न ह, शील (अ छा वभाव या
च र ), ब त काय से वैरा य और नरंतर संत पु ष के धम (आचरण) म लगे रहना॥3॥
Muttering My Name with unwavering faith constitutes the fifth form of adoration revealed in the Vedas. The sixth
variety consists in the practice of self-control and virtue, desisting from manifold activities and ever pursuing the
course of conduct prescribed for saints.
सातवँ सम मो ह मय जग दे खा।
मोत संत अ धक क र लेखा॥
आठवँ जथालाभ संतोषा।
सपने ँ न ह दे खइ परदोषा॥4॥
सातव भ है जगत् भर को समभाव से मुझम ओत ोत (राममय) दे खना और संत को मुझसे भी अ धक करके मानना। आठव भ है जो कुछ मल
जाए, उसी म संतोष करना और व म भी पराए दोष को न दे खना॥4॥
He who practices the seventh type sees the world full of Me without distinction and reckons the saints as even
greater than Myself. He who cultivates the eighth type of Devotion remains contented with whatever he gets and
never thinks of detecting others' faults.
नवम सरल सब सन छलहीना।
मम भरोस हयँ हरष न द ना॥
नव म ँ एकउ ज ह क होई।
ना र पु ष सचराचर कोई॥5॥
नव भ है सरलता और सबके साथ कपटर हत बताव करना, दय म मेरा भरोसा रखना और कसी भी अव था म हष और दै य ( वषाद) का न होना।
इन नव म से जनके एक भी होती है, वह ी-पु ष, जड़-चेतन कोई भी हो-॥5॥
The ninth form of Devotion demands that one should be guileless and straight in one?s dealings with everybody, and
should in his heart cherish implicit faith in Me without either exultation or depression. Whoever possesses any one
of these nine forms of Devotion, be he man or woman or any other creature, sentient or insentient.
