1. INTRODUCTION

Project is 200MWac (DT2) photovoltaic solar power plant located about 20km
away from Tay Ninh City to the northwest through Provincial Road No. 785 /
DT785, about 80km away from Ho Chi Minh City. Existing traffic road to the
project is relatively convenient, and there is local road to the site area.

Location of the project is shown in an image below.

2. OBJECTIVE OF METHOD STATEMENT

The objective of this method statement is to describe the procedures of


installation of mountings structure for PV module.

3. SCOPE OF WORK
This procedure covers the general process, methods, equipment, tools, material
preparation for mountings structure installation.

5. PROCEDURE

5.1 Pre-installation preparation/Inspection


After arrival of the material, it shall be placed on wooden brackets to avoid any ground
contact or contamination.
Galvanization coating shall be checked with the coating metre to confirm the thickness,
and a visual inspection shall be done to confirm any defects in the material or
galvanization. Rate of inspection shall be decided according to the arrived batches of
material. For every 50 Ton, inspection of each element shall be done as a single area
comprises 250 Ton of steel structure.
Before installation, complete inspection shall be carried out according to material entry
inspection requirements, and the dimensions of support parts shall be checked
according to drawings to meet the design requirements. Check whether there’s any
deformation, deformation should be corrected in time. Barbs and edges are not allowed.
All parts shall be treated by surface corrosion protection according to drawing design
requirements to ensure no rust and corrosion.
Check the all drawing, document at the latest version, Pipe handover report from civil.

5.2 Temporary power for construction preparation


This project construction site scope is wide, the electricity load disperses and the load
is small. According to above project situation, construction site temporary power
supply adopts the distributed mode of diesel generator. According to need, one diesel
generator is installed at each working face, whole construction site need about 30
diesel generators.

5.3 Electricity matters
Temporary electrical works must be installed, repaired or dismantled by professional
certified electricians.
All kinds of electrical personnel must wear and equip the corresponding labor
protective equipment according to the regulations.
Temporary cable must not be towed on the ground or tied to the steel pipe rack. When
the wall is needed, it must be protected by plastic or porcelain casing, and a hidden
protection is necessary to prevent the falling objects from breaking the wire. The
distance between the traverse and the ground is greater than 6 meters, and the
construction site is greater than 4 meters.
The wire inlet and outlet of the box should be located at the bottom of box. It is strictly
prohibited to be located on the top, side, back, end or the door of box. Out, the line
should be sheathed, divided into bundles and made waterproof bend, wire bundles
shall not be in direct contact with the box, outlet. In and out of mobile switch box,
rubber insulated cable must be used to enter the power line of switch box. Plug
connection is strictly prohibited.
When the construction site stops working for more than one hour, the power switch
box should be shut off and the diesel generator should be shut down. No sundries
should be placed in all switchboxes, clean and tidy at all times, and no other temporary
electrical equipment should be attached. When the fuse is replaced, it is strictly
prohibited to replace it with a melt that does not conform to the original specification.
When checking and repairing the switch box, it is necessary to cut off the power
switch of the previous level of power supply, hang the blackout sign.

5.3 Mountings structure installation

Conditions for welding works:


Environmental conditions shall be met as mentioned in AWS D1-1 manual for welding.
It states as follows;
Welding shall not be done in following conditions;
1- Ambient Temperature lower than -20C or 0F
2- Surface is wet, exposed to rain or snow
3- High Wind velocities

Handling of material:
Each element shall be handled carefully from storage yard to the point of installation,
care must be taken to avoid bends and damages to the elements.

Installation flow
Scaffold installation → Columns installation → Beam installation → Pipe hoop
installation → Front/Backward brace installation → Purlin hanger and Purlin
installation → Check angle stilt, slope of structure → Torque setting and marking.

5.4.1 Scaffold installation
When the height of the pipe exceeds the height of people, the scaffolding and
ladder must be installed.

The stability of scaffolds should be checked regularly.

5.4.2 Columns installation
Columns shall be fixed on the top of piles and contact shall be achieved by
welding. Prior to the welding surface shall be prepared and shall be cleaned of
from any kind of rust, grease, oxide residues.
Welding process is briefly explained below;
1. Any oil and rust on the surface shall be cleaned.
2. Vertical and horizontal positioning of the C-column according to the design
requirements.
3. Arc ignition or Arc Welding method shall be adopted, the position of the arc
is selected in the steel plate on the top of the pile.
4. Four points of the bottom plate of the C-column shall be selected in first step
for fixation, and the welding slag shall be removed after fixation.
5. In the second step, complete area shall be welded.
6. Welding slag shall be removed after welding.
7. Visual inspection shall be done to check the width, height and continuity of
welding lines, mounting structure shall be inspected randomly in a given area
by Owner/OE to verify the welding process and any identification of any
defects.
8. If there is any defect, the same welding method shall be used for repairing.

9. Approved material shall be coated over the welded surface to protect from
any corrosion or rust.
10. During fixing of all the elements a wireline shall be used to attain the
uniform level and alignment.
11. If mounting structure and plate top are not eccentric and mounting structure
bottom plate which is 200mmX200mm deviates more than 70mm out of the
diameter of pile plate top, a support shall be provided at the bottom of plate.

5.4.5 Torque checking and marking.

After all one group of structure (string) installation completed. Torque checking
and marking should by carry out and tightening value according with
recommendation from manufacture.
Do not using powered tools for tightening.
It shall be confirmed that after screw down and torque minimum 3 threads shall be
left.

6. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIROMENT


Full care and precaution shall be given by field management for safety and sanitation
of the workmen in field to prevent accident during the execution of work. One of main

aspects of this procedure is safety and health control. This is to control prevention of
incidents, personal injuries as well as damaged to equipment and properties during the
entire construction period. In order to ensure a safety working environment during the
entire construction period, the following safety measures shall be implemented as
follow:

6.1 Health, safety analysis


Administrative control shall be applied for use to reduce potential of heat stress
e.g. provision rest shelter recovery area or stand by vehicle for each group.
Each worker shall be provided with drinking water during hot weather
conditions during working hours.
All worker shall be provide with and wear personal protective equipment (PPE):
safety helmet, safety glasses, safety shoes and long sleeve shirt. When working
at height full body harness should be provide.
All equipment and hand tools shall be checked in good working condition
daily before use, handmade tools are unacceptable.
15 minutes prior to works finish time, all working areas shall be clean of all
debris and disposed of designated garbage containers or areas provided by
project.
The scaffold after installation should be check carefully by qualified personal.
All hot work (welding, gas cutting) should be provided fire extinguisher.
6.2 Environment
All diesel generator, portable machine shall have oil spill pan located to contain
any oil spilled.
Toilet with urinal and wash area shall be provided.
