We show gratitude towards our Principal S. M. Godhani and our

faculties who encourage us to take to industrial visit and give us a
great guidance regarding training and instruct us the importance of
training in Manufacturing and service field. So we decide to take
visit in “BALAJI WAFERS PVT. LTD.” - VAJADI (VAD) -
RAJKOT

We are especially thankful to the Chairman Mr. Bhikhubhai Virani

and Virani brothes, Marketing manager of industry Mr. Avinash
Akbari and other human resource who gave the proper guidance to
the student and gave practical based approach learning to students.
 GENERAL INFORMATION

“BALAJI WAFERS PVT. LTD.” - VAJADI (VAD) – RAJKOT is a

private limited company incorporated since 1974 at Virani house.
The registered office of the company is at Junagadh, Gujarat.

Balaji Wafers and Namkeen group, based in Rajkot, Gujarat, India,

manufactures and distributes potato chips and other grain-based
bagged snacks in various flavours. Started as a micro-business, and
at present it has evolved into a Rs. 9000 crore company of products
with an indigenous taste. At present thay have 3 units ( 2 units in
Gujarat and 1 unit in Madhya Pradesh ).
By their retail success they were inspired to set a semi-automatic
plant instead of preparing wafers by the traditional frying method.
The product gradually reached every part of Gujarat, and the
Viranis wanted to take over the whole western India, so the biggest
automatic plant of Gujarat came into the picture.
The Company’s Vision, shared by the brothers and the young is to
grow into a global giant using modern methods and techniques.
The key drivers in this journey of growth will continue to be the
age-old traditions of Trust and Quality, without any compromise.
Balaji Wafers is constantly striving to upgrade its technological
strengths with latest machinery and processes. The aim is to
manufacture the best possible product, with an eye towards
“green” practices and smoother work systems for the staff.

The company was among the first to install a fully automated plant
in Gujarat.
The company has 4 directors (brothers) /key management
personnel.

PURPOSE AND PLACES OF VISIT

Our main purpose for this visit is familiar with industrial

environment and to get practical knowledge and learn where &
how we apply our theoritical knowledge in real application.

The industrial visit to "Balaji Wafers Pvt. Ltd." - Rajkot started at

08:00 am on 22nd January, 2019 from OM Engineering College. It
was organized by 51 students of B.B.A. and B.COM. student. There
were one bus containing all 51 students and 3 faculties, Prof. S. M.
Godhani, Prof. A. P. Thesiya and Prof. M. B. Mandan accompany
students during visit.
 

Students visited all the department of the production of different

types bearing in "Balaji Wafers Pvt. Ltd." - Rajkot. First of all we
went in the raw – materials department; where raw-material (sugar
free potatoes) is collecting from diffrent states of India and than it is
transfers for grading and than it is trabsferes potatoes for washing
and peeling department where potatoes are washing automatically
and peeling process is makes by women employees. After than the
potatoes are cutting into wafer slices according to their size and
than it is boiling process starts, than the slices are frying at 160 o c
temperature of oil. Here, capacity of oil machinery is 1000 liters oyt
of them per hour 360 liters are using and one by one automatically
oil is filling. Than wafers are goes for inspecting and here
automatically brown colour wafers are removing. After than wafers
are coming at spices department and here all the spices are adding
in it and finally it is transfering for the packaging department for
packing the products and here packing is makes according to
quantities requires.

Now this pouches are send for the cartoon package according to the
required order of the agnets, whole-seller and retailers. Than they
are shares threir informations regarding another two units to us and
also share their vedios to us which is very much helpful for us to
know the practical and how machinery works at each and every
stages of machinery.
Then moving next area that is storage area; there are many
departments available for preservation of diffrent food grains as
well as raw-materials with different kinds of temerature and
requirements. They covers almost market area in Gujarat as well as
another states, too.

They are using their water thrice or many times with the help of
filtering the water and for this they have thier own plants in the
factory premises. Which is good for them to achieve more profit.

 
At present, they are manufacturing total 46 (forty-six) products for
their all reliable customers i.e. children, young, adult etc. They
provides maximum customer satisfaction to their customers.

CONCLUSION
The visit certainly was one of the most informative, innovative and
enjoyable one till date for all of us. It gave us a very big opportunity
to enhance our practical knowledge and experience related to
industries and also gave us the golden chance to get to know about
the working of such a world renowned industry industry,
“BALAJI WAFERS PVT. LTD.”

From the visit, we got the information and practical knowledge

about manufacturing of food products. Student got the knowledge
about food products, temperature and process of Manufacturing
and material storage. Also they got the idea of service department.

About 51 students of B.B.A. and B.COM. of Om Engineering

college, Junagadh & faculty named Prof. S. M. Godhani, Prof. A. P.
Thesiya and Prof. M. B. Mandan benefited from this as they got
chance to discussion with In-charge officer and other employees
who are working at industry.
