7.0 DIESEL GENERATOR SETS

The Diesel generators specified herein, must conform to Section 13.0 of the Technical
Specifications, in addition to the description given in respective items of BOQ, whether
explicitly specified or not. In case of contradiction between Technical specifications and
description in BOQ, the most stringent of the condition will prevail.

All the items / parts mentioned in relevant clauses of the Technical specifications and not
specifically mentioned in BOQ shall be deemed to be included in the quoted rates, unless
specifically excluded.

Note :
a) The Contractor shall be responsible for providing a complete workable DG set system as per
detailed Technical Specifications including necessary Interfacing with the other contractors
(BMS, civil works, etc.)
b)
Engine shall include flywheel to suit direct / flexible coupling with guard, air cleaner,
blower/ radiator fan, radiator, fuel pump, electronics governor, fuel filter, lub oil filter &
pump, battery charger, Genset Controller, Isolator and Logic panel, etc. as required,
suitable for cold start, suitable for remote starting.

c)
Alternator shall be brushless, self excited, self regulated, drip proof, and continuously rated
at 0.8 pf suitable for 3 phase, 415 Volts, 50Hz,4‐wire system, class 'H' insulation provided
with static excitation unit, Protection, micro processor / software controlled annunciation
and self‐diagnostic module and shall generally complying to specification and relevant
standards.

d) DG set shall have overload capacity not less than 110% of rated capacity for 1 hour in every
12 hours.
e)
DG sets and Sound proof enclosures (including the one for capacity more than 1000 kVA)
shall be fully compliant to the norms of CPCB for Noise and Emissions.

f) DG set in sound attenuated enclosure shall be mounted on a fabricated rigid common base
frame with resilient anti‐vibration mounting pads to provided 90% vibration isolation
efficiency. The associated civil foundation for the DG sets will be provided by Civil
Contractor, necessary interfacing for the same will be done by the DG set / E&M
contractor.
g) DG sets shall include all accessories, fittings, instruments, Isolator Panel, Logic Panel, etc.
complete as per specifications and as required.
DG set design temperature will be 50o C.
h)
Genset Controller and Isolator Panel should preferably be located inside the sound proof
enclosure in a separate section. If they are to be located outside the sound proof enclosure,
a separate enclosure for the Isolator Panel is to be constructed by the Contractor of the
same material and finish (except the Acoustic insulation) at no extra cost to BMRCL.
The layout of sound proof enclosure is to be specifically got approved during the proto‐type
approval of DG sets.
i)
DG set should be suitable for parallel operation as per the detailed Technical Specifications
(Volume 4 of Package 2).
Logic Panel for Parallel operation of the DG sets will be provided by the DG set/E&M
Contractor. Interfacing for accommodating the Logic Panel and control & data cabling in the
DG Panel room will be done by the DG set/E&M Contractor.

j) Detailed technical proposal for the DG sets, Genset controller, Logic panel, Isolator Panel
and acoustic enclosure, etc are to be submitted to the Engineer‐in‐charge for approval
before start of manufacturing.

Supply, Load, Transport to site, Receive & Unload at site, Store, Unpack, Erection, Testing &

Commissioning of Diesel generator set of 750 kVA capacity (at 40 C Ambient temperature),
with electronic governor as per specification. Also the cost shall include the freight &
insurance. DG to be of prime / continuous duty application as per IS. Alternator to be
provided with Class 'H' insulation & with cable termination box for LT Cables. Alternator to
be provided with local isolator indoor/ outdoor type for maintenance purpose. DG set
coupling to be with double bearing type, teethed gear coupling. The cost shall also include
Engine Control Panel (Type: EGCP / Power Command Control) with RS 485 common. port.
DG sets shall be suitable for auto synchronizing with auto load sharing and remote 
monitoring & control arrangement compatible with the existing electrical system.

DG Set with Alternator with Integral Acoustic Enclosure shall include the following
components and accessories complete

7.3 Exhaust System   
7.3.1
Supply, Installation of the following size of Class 'B' MS piping for exhaust system as per IS
3589 and IS 1239 Part 1 including providing Silencer/muffler, suitable bends, expansion
   
joints(bellows), reducers, flexibles, flanges, fire fly gaskets, hardware, glass wool and
aluminium sheet cladding etc., complete as per Technical specification 
The cost shall also include the following
(i) Providing suitable flange at a reachable height for flue gas sampling as per CPCB
requirement.
(ii) Painting of exhaust pipe with two coats of primer and two coats of approved enamel
paint.
(iii) Providing of 75mm thick Rockwool LBR mattress insulation (of 150 kg/m3 density) over
the exhaust pipes of following diameter including cladding with aluminium sheet of 24 SWG
and covering from outside complete as required suitable for DG exhaust pipe temp. up to
450o C etc.
(iv) Supply, fabrication and erection of Steel Structure, hardwares for generator exhaust
piping & painting with two coats of primer and two coats of approved enamel paint as per
requirement and providing 
Note:
(a) The rate for the MS exhaust pipe should be inclusive of supply & fixing of SS expansion
joints (Bellows) according to size of horizontal/vertical exhaust pipes of DG sets as required
at site.( It shall not be payable separately)..
(b) Measurement for MS Exhaust piping will be taken excluding the length of Expansion
Joints (SS Bellows)

Supply, Installation, Testing & commissioning of Intake/Exhaust Fans, industrial type high
performance, reduced turbulence, low sound level (less than 75 dB(A)), compact, direct
drive Vane axial flow fan with Attenuator, 1.6 Cubic Metre per sec (CMS) Air flow capacity
at 200 Pascal static pressure. The casing shall be double flanged made of galvanised sheet
steel and the impeller having manually adjustable pitch blades made of aluminium. The
motor shall be totally enclosed Class F insulation to a minimum IP55 protection, 3Ph, 50 Hz,
4 pole, 1450rpm, with suitable starter. The fan shall be suitable for wall mounting complete

with bird guard and with all necessary accessories, starters as required for DG room
ventilation.
Similar to Kruger model TDA‐V series.
The system should be designed to provided suitable ventilation of efficient air circulation, to
ensure that the temperature rise in the DG Room with respect to the ambient is less than
5o C.
Required openings with mounting frames and filters shall also be considered.

Supply, Installation, Testing & commissioning of Intake/Exhaust, industrial type high
performance, reduced turbulence, low sound level (less than 75 dB(A)), compact, Roof
mounted direct drive fan with Attenuator, 1.2 Cubic Metre per sec (CMS) Air flow capacity
at 200 Pascal static pressure. The fan shall have the following constructional features.

The motor shall be totally enclosed Class F insulation to a minimum IP55 protection, 3Ph, 50
Hz, 4 pole, 1450rpm, with suitable starter

All aluminium, backward‐inclined centrifugal wheel dynamically balanced for long life and
quite operation.

The bearing shall be 100% factory tested and designed specifically for air handling
application with minimum L10 life in excess of 100,000 hours.

Vibration isolators.

Lower Windband made of heavy gauge aluminium with formed edges for added strength
and  provides weather resistance

Curb cap (with integral deep spun venturi) constructed of aluminium and is one piece for a
weather tight fit. The curb shall be provided with pre punched mounting holes to ensure
correct attachment to the roof ‐ ‐ ‐    4 ‐ ‐ ‐ ‐ Nos    4

Fan shroud made of one piece, heavy‐gauge aluminium with a rolled bead for extra
strength directs the exhaust air downward.

Bird screen made of galvanised wire.

Provision of conduit through the curb cap for installing electrical wiring

The motor shall be mounted out of the air stream. The motor cover shall be constructed of
aluminium and provided with Cooling fins

The fan shall be suitable for roof mounting complete with dampers, bird guard and with all
necessary accessories, starters as required for DG room ventilation.

The system should be designed to provided suitable ventilation of efficient air circulation, to
ensure that the temperature rise in the DG Room with respect to the ambient is less than
5o C.
Required openings with mounting frames and filters shall also be considered.
