3.4. Dumping soil 3.4.1. Excavated material shall be placed at least 1.0m
away from the excavation

4. Manual Backfilling using shovel 4.1 Hand injuries, excavation collapse 4.1.1 Use of working hand gloves
4.1.2. Do not collect soil on the sloped area of the
excavation
4.1.3. Do not spray water to the sloped area of excavation

4.2. Injuries due to collisions or unstable material 4.2.1. Doctor and certified Nurse/First Aides shall be

Procedures and numbers
3.2.3. Audible reversing alarms shall be installed on each
vehicle
3.2.4. Entry to the excavation area, which shall be properly
barricaded, shall be prevented when backfilling is in
progress
3.2.5. Excavated material shall be stocked at least 1.5-m
away from the edge of the excavation
3.2.6. Side slopes of excavations should be stable
4.3. Dust Control 3.5.1. Provide dust masks for workers and ensure their use
3.5.2. Provide dust mitigation by spreading water

5. Using bucket and crane 5.1. Persons under the bucket 5.1.1. No persons shall be allowed to stand under the
bucket of the excavator

5.2. Passengers on operating equipment 5.2.1. No passengers are allowed to ride on plant
equipment

5.3. Resting under equipment 5.3.1. Resting under the equipment is prohibited

5.4. Unauthorized equipment operator 5.4.1. Only competent and certified operator shall operate
the equipment, when being left unattended, the engine
shall be switched off and the keys removed from the
ignition

5.5. Defective equipment (crane) 5.5.1. Crane daily inspection shall be carried out by the
operator
