The teacher will discuss the situation by using cut-outs and
ICT to illustrate and visualizes ½ + ¼
Looking back at the example, ask: How did we visualize
adding dissimilar fractions? Emphasize that using regions
and other models, we can visualize adding dissimilar
fractions.
Divide the class into 3 groups. Give each group an activity
card.
Group 1 will use ICT to visualize 2/3 + 1/6.
Group 2 will use cut-outs visualizing ½ + 1/3.
Group 3 will used Manila Paper and draw to visualize1/8 +
2/4.
Think-Pair-Share:
Visualize to find the sum.Let the learners find a partner to
do the given situation.
Ellen gave 1/3 of chocolate bar to Dave.When John
asked for some, she gave 1/6. How much chocolate bar
did she give to her friends?
How do we visualize addition of dissimilar fractions?
Visualizing addition of dissimilar fraction can be done buy
using regions and other models.
Visualize the following by drawing regions or models.

2) ¾ + 5/8 =
3) 2/3 + 1/6 =
4) 3/5+ 1/3 =
5) 5/8 + ¼ =
Ask the pupils to visualize the following by drawing regions.
