ASSIGNMENT MEASURED OUTCOMES
Simulation Report will measure students’ perception, knowledge and understanding to reflect
students formal and informal acquired knowledge of deep foundations, basements and steel
structures through written skills.

This assignment will tap on students’ perception, knowledge and understanding on the
installation and process of deep foundation, basement construction process and steel
structure construction.

ASSESSMENT RUBRICS
1. Each group written report assignment will be divided into two (2) main parts. Grading for
each part will be given marks based on the following rubrics: -

PART A: WRITTEN REPORT (10 MARKS)

• 10 marks (Excellent)
Excellent and clear introduction and overview of the topic. Observation results are
clearly and effectively discussed and reflected logically with relevant pictures. Very
smooth flow of ideas and expression. Conclusion is presented clearly. List of
references are presented clearly with correct format. Excellent organization of report
(cover, page number, header/footer, acknowledgment, table of content, appendices).

• 8 – 9 marks (Good)
Good introduction and overview of the topic. Observation results are good and
discussed; and reflected logically with relevant pictures. Smooth flow of ideas and
expression. Conclusion is presented well. List of references are presented with correct
format. Good organization of report (cover, page number, header/footer,
acknowledgment, table of content, appendices).

• 5 - 7 marks (Average)
Introduction is introduced and somewhat discussed. Observation results are
introduced but not clearly reflected. There is moderate attempt to present the
observation results clearly, effectively and logically but some pictures provided are not
that relevant to the topic discussed. Conclusion is moderately presented. List of
references are moderately presented in the correct format. Average organization of
report (cover, page number, header/footer, acknowledgment, table of content,
appendices).
• 2 - 4 marks (Poor)
Introduction is introduced and somewhat irrelevant. Observation result is introduced
and somewhat discussed. There is poor attempt to present the observation results
clearly, effectively and logically and some pictures provided are not that relevant to the
topic discussed. Conclusion is irrelevant. List of references are presented with poor
format to no references. Poor organization of report (cover, page number,
header/footer, acknowledgment, table of content, appendices).

• 1 mark = very poor / duplication of work

• 0 = late submission / non-submission

PART B: WRITTEN REPORT WITH HAND SKETCHES (15 MARKS)

• 15 marks (Excellent)
Excellent and clear introduction and overview of the topic. Observation results are
clearly and effectively discussed, reflected logically with relevant hand sketches.
Excellent hand sketches with appropriate annotation are provided in the report. Very
smooth flow of ideas and expression. Conclusion is presented clearly. List of
references are presented clearly with correct format. Excellent organization of report
(cover, page number, header/footer, acknowledgment, table of content, appendices).

• 10 – 14 marks (Good)
Good introduction and overview of the topic. Observation results are good and
discussed, reflected and logically with relevant hand sketches. Good hand sketches
with appropriate annotation are provided in the report. Smooth flow of ideas and
expression. Conclusion is presented well. List of references are presented with correct
format. Good organization of report (cover, page number, header/footer,
acknowledgment, table of content, appendices).

• 6 - 9 marks (Average)
Introduction is introduced and somewhat discussed. Observation results are
introduced but not clearly reflected. There is moderate attempt to present the
observation results clearly, effectively and logically but some of the hand sketches are
not clearly drawn with poor annotation provided in the report. Hand sketches provided
are not that relevant to the topic discussed. Conclusion is moderately presented. List
of references are moderately presented in correct format. Average organization of
report (cover, page number, header/footer, acknowledgment, table of content,
appendices).

• 2 - 5 marks (Poor)
Introduction is introduced but somewhat irrelevant. Observation result is introduced
and somewhat discussed and there are a few numbers of hand sketches provided in
the report but not appropriately drawn with a few to no annotation at all. Hand sketches
provided are not relevant at all with the topic discussed. There is poor attempt to
present the observation results clearly, effectively and logically and some pictures
provided are not that relevant to the topic discussed. Conclusion is irrelevant. List of
references are presented with poor format or no references. Poor organization of report
(cover, page number, header/footer, acknowledgment, table of content, appendices).

• 1 mark = very poor / duplication of work

• 0 = late submission / non-submission

2. All written report must include the following contents: -
