Learning Development Domain: Report about our POVs

Part 1

Number 1. How do you find the document?

Noreen

-- The content of the domain assigned to our group is quite challenging, more so, if it is to be
implemented already. I feel that we are dealing with the most sensitive domain since we will be
focusing on the curriculum, the teaching personnel and student assessment, which are very vital
in the delivery of curriculum and instruction. Implementing this big chunk of work, means making
people get on their feet to work on their responsibilities SERIOUSLY, so as to achieve a robust
curriculum, an authentic assessment and an effective instruction that could provide learning
experiences that meet the needs of 21st century learners. And by doing so, we have to expect
that asking them to collaborate in this endeavor will not be very easy. This will be extra
challenging not only on our part as leaders but also to them. We have to be prepared for
whatever reactions that they may have as we go through the process of implementing this.

Jasmin

--The domain assigned to us is indeed challenging and comprehensive at the same time. Ang
lawak kc ng sakop nito. We really have to dig through our curriculum and assess very well to
find out whether we are properly implementing all these or not. Since the teachers are the first
respondents of this domain, we also have to think of ways and means in order to encourage
them to cooperate/collaborate with us as we go through the process of getting evidences.

Weng

-- For me, the document is very helpful for us to identify the strengths and the weaknesses of
MCS as a Catholic institution. I think this is a big challenge not only for me but for everyone to
read more, become more committed and dedicated in our own work as educators. This is not an
easy task for us if this is to be implemented but I believe if everyone is willing and generous
enough to share his/her time, effort and talents, nothing is impossible.

Levy

-- When I received the handout and browsed it, I was hesitant at first if we could make it or finish
it this year because it entails a lot of preparations. You need to give extra time. But, I also
believe that with our thorough collaboration, this will be materialized and will be put into practice
later.
Number 2. What were the difficulties that you encountered/points that you need to be clarified
of?

Noreen

-- The points stated in the document were very clear, no problem about them. However, one of
the concerns that I have is that, the content is too overwhelming. It makes me excited at the
same time anxious as to where we should start. There are too many evidences that need to be
provided and before we could do that, there will surely be a lot of changes to be made in the
curriculum in order to ensure that those evidences that we can produce later on are sufficient to
meet the standards. Also, another point is will there be a quality assurance team who will check
and ensure if what we are doing /will be doing is right? Because at the end of the day, we only
want that we are leading the right track so we will not be wasting our efforts.

Jasmin

--As for the difficulties, sabi ko nga medyo malawak yong scope ng work natin, so may be, we
will be having problems with the gathering of all the needed evidences. Although, meron na tayo
nun, still we have to assess whether they meet the standards of the PCSS. Also, we have to
expect reactions from the teachers who might be affected with the process in case there will be
changes to be implemented in the practices that we used to do.

Weng

-- The document stated everything what we need to have in the domain assigned in our group. I
am only confused if we need to gather all the evidences stated or only some of them to meet the
standards. (pag lahat, e di wow! madami gid!)

Levy

-- The acceptance of the given task in spite of the hectic schedules.

Part 2. Share your insights about the domain assigned to your team. Focus on the standards
and benchmarks.

Noreen

--After reading the entire document, I believe that our school has already started doing some of
the points stated there. We've been practicing some of them for a long time only that we were
not consistent in keeping records/documenting things that we did. In curriculum, for example,
we do curriculum mapping and all, but I believe we were quite lenient in checking if the
teachers' work is really aligned with the school's PVMGCV, resulting to a half-baked output
(making it to a Level 2 Benchmark, perhaps). With the implementation of the PCSS, this would
mean that we have to retrace the path that we are taking. We have to study again carefully the
Learning Plans made by the teachers, including their assessments, activities, Curriculum Maps,
Scope and Sequence if they are really aligned with the PVMGCV. However, before doing this,
we also need to look into the school’s Philosophy, Vision-Mission, Goals and Core Values; then,
identify the most important points that are to be integrated in the curriculum. We need to do a
thorough evaluation, so we would know our starting ground. Then and only then can we answer
the question: Shall we revise or shall we start anew?

Jasmin

--Documentation wise, we have them already, hindi nga lang kumpleto, and the others need to
be re-evaluated whether they are aligned with the standards or not. We need to gather more
evidences pa.

Weng

--Medyo marami. But while reading the document, I keep on telling myself. Ah, ginawa na namin
to.
Dapat ba iimprove or palitan ang dapat palitan?
But at least we have started something and I hope sana nga meron.

Levy

-- I think we are practicing some but we need documentation lang para meron tayong
evidences.
