II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Parallel Perspective Drawing
Sub-topic: Steps in Constructing Parallel Perspective Drawing
References: Drafting Volume 1&2 by German Manaois
Learning Materials: laptop, Pictures, Drawing instruments, Chalk, Chalkboard
Time Frame: 1 hour
Valuing: Perseverance leads everyone to accurate results.

III. LEARNING STRATEGY

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. Daily Routine
(Prayer)
May I call _______to lead us the prayer… (Student will lead the prayer)

(Greetings)
Good morning class! : Good morning, Ma’am.

(Checking of Attendance)
Who’s not around class? : None, Ma’am.

Good to hear that everybody is present.

Let us now proceed…

(Review)
What did we tackle last meeting class?
Yes ______? : Perspective Drawing, Ma’am.

Very good! Last meeting we’ve discussed about

Perspective Drawing. Again, what is Perspective
Drawing? Yes _______? : Perspective drawing is a pictorial view seen by
the observers’ eyes.
Absolutely! In other words, making 2D objects
seem 3.

Class we will have a game called “Guess Me”. But

before that lets divide first the group into 4.

You may now go to your perspective groups.

Always remember:
The group that shows active participation will get
points after the class. Is that clear class? : yes ma’am.
Your task is to guess the technical terms used in
perspective drawing.

1. It is the baseline which represents a ground plane Ground Line (GL)

in pictures having no indication of spatial depth
and upon which all figures and objects are placed
irrespective of their real spatial relationship.
2. Is an orthographic projection of a 3-dimensional Plan View (PV)
object from the position of a horizontal plane
through the object?
3. One of the two variables that control view in Station Point (SP)
drawing. This refers to the stationary point on the
ground from which the viewer/artist observes the
scene.
4. The vantage point of the spectator also referred to Eye Level (EL)
as the horizon line.
5. A imaginary points on the horizon line in 1 pt. Vanishing Point (VP)
And 2 pt. perspective.

Magnificent! Those are the important terms used

in perspective drawing. You should always remember
those terms because we will use them throughout
the lesson. : Okay, Ma’am.

Do you have any questions with regards to our

last topic? : None, Ma’am.

B. Activity
I have series of pictures here. Kindly look and
observe it very well.
(Present series of pictures) (Students will look and observe the pictures
presented)

Okay, what did you notice in the drawings?

Yes _______? : The hallway and the streets appear bigger to
the eye in relation to their distance from the
viewer.

Very good! What else? Yes _______? : Objects look smaller the further away they are.

Precisely! Those drawings are very good

examples of a parallel perspective drawing.
There are 3 types of perspective drawing but
today we will just only discuss the one type,
the parallel perspective.

(Presentation of Objectives)
Okay class, at the end of the period you will be able to
define parallel perspective drawing, enumerate the steps
in constructing parallel perspective drawing, follow the
steps accurately in constructing parallel perspective
drawing and draw mechanically a parallel perspective
of an object (L-shaped Block). Are you ready? : Yes, Ma’am!

C. Analysis
Based on the pictures you observe a while back,
what comes on your mind when you hear the
parallel perspective drawing? Yes _______? : A drawing where the parallel lines meet to
one point somewhere in the distance.
Very well said. That makes parallel perspective also
known as one point perspective. What else?
Yes _______? : A perspective drawing has one face of the
object that is parallel to our view or sight.
Excellent! Parallel perspective is a drawing where
one surface of the object is drawn perpendicular or
parallel to the picture plane. Is it clear? : Yes, Ma’am.

Why do you think it is called one point perspective? : It is called one point perspective because it
has only one vanishing point.
Precisely. It has only one point which do we call the
vanishing point.

Let us now proceed to the part of our lesson. I am now

going to teach you the 11 easy steps in constructing
a parallel perspective drawing . Are you ready? : Yes, Ma’am.

Remember class, in making any kind of drawing,

always observe accuracy and neatness to achieve an
attractive and effective presentation. : Okay, Ma’am.

Pay attention because I will let you re-demonstrate

it on the board later. Is it clear? : Yes, Ma’am.

Okay, this frontal elevation of L-shaped block will be

our basis in constructing parallel perspective drawing.

(Call students to read the steps in constructing parallel

perspective) 1. Draw the edge of the picture plane (PP).

PP

2. Draw the ground line (GL) below the picture

plane.

3. Draw the eye level (EL) above the ground line
or between the picture plane and the ground line.

4. Locate the station point (SP) at the right part

of the ground line.

5. Locate the vanishing point (VP). The

vanishing point is always located on the eye
level vertically with the station point.

So that’s how you draw a parallel perspective of a
L-shaped block. Do you have any clarifications with
regards to the steps? : None, Ma’am.

Okay, so let’s see if you really understood the lesson.

D. Application
Re-Demonstration
(Group the class into two)
The Group 1 will be the Team Umasa and Group 2 will be
the Team Paasa. Now, each group will select their 11
representatives to demonstrate each step on how to construct
parallel perspective drawing of L-shaped block on the board.
Is it clear? : Yes, Ma’am.

(Present Rubrics)

CRITERIA SCORES

Accuracy
Orderliness
Teamwork
Time Management
Okay, I will give you 3 minutes to select your
representatives and familiarize the steps orderly. : Okay, Ma’am.

Times up! You have 10 minutes to do your activity.

(Distributing drawing instruments to each group)

You may now start… (Activity Proper)

Well done class! You did a great job!

Let’s have Palakpak parangal for everyone. (Performs the Palakpak parangal)

Okay class, why do we need to follow these steps

in constructing parallel perspective drawing? : It is necessary to follow these steps with
perseverance so that one may produce output
with accuracy.
Brilliant! That’s true. Just like in our life there are steps
to be followed and we need to be perseverant so that
we’ll be successful in everything we do, right class? : Yes, Ma’am!

E. Abstraction
What did we just discuss a while back? : We talked about parallel perspective or one
point perspective drawing.

Very good! Again, what is parallel perspective? : Parallel perspective is a drawing where one
surface of the object is drawn perpendicular or
parallel to the picture plane and It has only one
point which do we call the vanishing point.
Excellent! What about the steps in constructing
parallel perspective? (Students will enumerate the steps in
constructing parallel perspective)

Magnificent class! Do you have any queries? : None, Ma’am.

IV. EVALUATION
Laboratory Plate
Class bring out all your drawing materials and in the same
manner, draw parallel perspective of the same model.

Your drawing will be graded according to the

following criteria:
Criteria Percentage
Legibility 30%
Orderliness 20%
Neatness 15%
Accuracy 30% (PLATE
Speed 5% EXERCISE:
TOTAL 100%
Parallel Perspective of L-Shaped Block)

You will be given 15 minutes to do your plate. (Students are doing their laboratory plate)

V. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
A. Follow up:
 Draw the parallel perspective of U-shaped block.
B. Bring the following:
 Perspective drawings or pictures having two vanishing point.
 Drawing materials

That’s all for today. Goodbye class! : Goodbye and thank you, Ma’am!
