Dear Ms. Barnes,

My name is Amy Sauers, and I am so excited to join your Grade 6 classroom for a few weeks! I
am very excited to develop my skills as a student teacher alongside you and your students! I am
currently in the After Degree Education Program at the University of Lethbridge. I obtained my
BA in English at the King’s University in 2018. In 2016 I obtained my Early Childhood
Education Level 1 Certificate.

I have had the privilege of working with children and youth of all ages throughout my life, and
each of these experiences have shaped me as both a person and educator. One of my earliest
experiences working with children was volunteering at Pinecrest Camp over the summers from
the time that I was thirteen. Though I have taken on many roles at camp, the latest has been
‘Director’ of three camps. Through camp, I have worked with children from age seven through
seventeen. Since obtaining my Early Childhood Education Certificate, I have spent a total of
about twelve months working at Little Owl Learning Centre as an ECE in Medicine Hat.
Through this position, I have had the opportunity to work with children age six months through
twelve years. Last year, I decided to take a year off of school, and worked as an Educational
Assistant at Winnifred Colony School. This position was very unique because I had the chance to
implement programming with the grade one through three students. Finally, last semester I did
my PS1 Practicum at River Heights Elementary School. This was an incredible opportunity that
grew me so much as an educator!

Some of my interests include reading, music and drama. As a teenager, I participated in two
Eagle Butte High School musicals with lead roles, and sang with the Medicine Hat College
Girl’s Choir. I have always loved being outdoors and going camping. Growing up on a farm, I
have become an avid animal lover, and currently have a cute and sassy little Shiba Inu puppy
named Ari. My husband and I are also local business owners- we own Cole’s Rentals here in
Medicine Hat.

I am so excited to come and experience your classroom, and I hope that I can be a positive part
of it by bringing my own experiences, motivation, and passion. I look forward to growing my
skills and knowledge with your help. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Sincerely,

Amy Sauers
