CHAPTER II

RESEARCH DESIGN OF THE STUDY

Introduction:
This chapter is devoted to present the objective of the study, sources of data,
tools for data collection, sample size, sampling. Technique, data analysis, statistical
tools, limitations of the study and chapter scheme.

Objectives of the study:


The study has the following objectives:

(i) To know the profile of the Bath soap


(ii) To analyse the brand preference of the respondents
(iii) To analyse the level of satisfaction of the respondents
(iv) To identify the problems faced by the respondents.

Sources of Data:

Primary data:
Primary data is obtained from original sources by the researcher. Primary
data is collected through questionnaire from the customers in alangulam area. To
measure the level of consumer satisfaction and expectation, 60 respondents are
selected.

Secondary Data:
Secondary data is collected by someone other than researcher for purpose
not directly related to the research under consideration. If already exists. It is a
cheaper source of data. Secondary data are collected from Books, Journals &
internet.

Tools for data collection:


The researcher constructed the questionnaire consist of two parts; the first
part has questions on the respondents bio ─ data such as Gender, Age, educational
status and occupational status.

The second part is the main part which contains questions related to brand
preference and customer satisfaction factors to words bath soap.

Sample size:
The data have been collected from the respondents covering 60 bath soap
users in Alangulam.
Sampling Technique:
Convenience sampling has been used as the sampling technique for this
research.

Data analysis:
The researcher prepared the master table for the collected primary data. Then
they used tabulation, percentage analysis and statisfical procedure to interpret the
collected data.

Satisfical Tools:

Simple percentage method:


The collected data has been analysed by simple percentage analysis. The
analysed data were presented through tables and charts.

Limitations of the study:


1. This study is limited by sample size.
2. This study is limited to Alangulam area only.

Chapter scheme:
The study includes the following chapters. The first chapter includes
introduction & profile of the study area. The second chapter includes Research
design of the study. The Third chapter deals with analysis & Interpretation of data.
The fourth chapter presents summary of findings ; suggestions and conclusion.
