Background of the Study

Introduction

Doughnuts are deep-fried cakes with a long European history and roots in

still earlier Middle Eastern cuisine. They were introduced to America by the Dutch

in New Netherlands to America as oil cakes or fried cakes. Made of yeast dough

rich in eggs and butter, spices, and dried fruits, their sweetness came from the

fruit and the final dusting of sugar. The dough was often somewhat sticky with

additional flour toughened and masked the spicy and buttery flavors, and was

dropped as blobs off the end of a spoon into hot rapeseed oil. The resulting

doughnuts took the form of irregular balls, at some point called oliebollen, or fried

balls; the birth of munchkin donuts (Avey, 2018). Munchkins vary in different dye

colors represented by its flavor famous all over the world eaten either in most

snacks or dessert. A munchkin can be mixed with different flavors that can either

be stuffed of coated partnered with selection of hot to cold beverages, and is

always on the list to buy in the market and part of our daily sweet consumptions.

The Crazy munchkin popper is a munchkin donut business that will be

serving varietals of sweet to savory flavors that will suffice the growing desires of

market in small sweet-savory snacks filled with different flavors that can pop-out

inside the mouth.

The target market of this business came from the (1) local residents from

Sto. Tomas City, Batangas and people living in nearby towns; (2) passerby with
or without their vehicles; (3) there are different establishments like schools,

hospital, and church in the area with large number of possible customer; and (4)

young people, mostly students, who strive for affordability as well as good quality

of food and services.

Crazy Munchkin Poppers are bite size donuts filled with varietals of flavor

from sweet to savory. Each donut is filled with popping flavors that will satisfy the

customer’s diverse taste buds.

Everyone loves munchkins. We have a variety of delicious flavors mostly

made from sweet fillings to savory feelings. The Crazy Munchkins Poppers offer

yummy, festive, and joyful munchkins and are prepared insanely easy in a

reasonable price. These treats are popular not just during the holidays but year-

round, loved by young and old alike.

LOCATION

Location is important because that factors greatly into how your initial

customers can find you, and how often your existing customers visit. For a retail

business, location is important if you have not built a loyal following that sustains

your business, who will go out of their way to come to you. (No need to wright

E. Significance of the Study

The study would be beneficial to:

Customers. Throughout this study, the targeted four distinct group of


customers would be able to eat sweet to savory flavors of munchkin poppers and
other complimentary beverage serving the best quality of food and affordable
prices.

Future researchers. This study will serve as their reference in conducting


their own research. It will guide them regarding the full understanding of their
study.

Future entrepreneurs. The study will help them in business decisions

especially when they would want to consider the same business concept.

F. Scopes and Limitations of the Study

This study covers the feasibility of the proposed Crazy Munchkin Popper

donut shop to be situated in the town proper of Sto. Tomas City Batangas. The

location of the business was pre-determined for eliciting strategic location for the

business was not included in the survey instrument and for the proponents to

easily determine the respondents to be surveyed. The proponents limited the

survey to respondents living in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas to serve as a base

group for this study.

H. Methods and Procedure

 At first, the proponents will be conducting a serendipity walk/ study


to determine if the products are viable to be sold.
 Then, the proponents will consult an expert to deliver the name and
the concept of the business and the target market’s demographic
characteristics
 The proponents then will develop a self-made questionnaire and
seek an expert for the approval of and validation of the instrument.
 After validating, the proponents will administer the survey on 200
sample respondents using convenient sampling.
 Tallying, tabulating and analysing the data will follow.

J. Research Design

This descriptive research design will be used in this study. Descriptive

method of research is a fact-finding study that substantially and correctly

interprets results of an investigation. Descriptive research also describes what

the current phenomenon is. It talks about the conditions of existing relationships

and prevailing practices.

The proponents will be using a self-made questionnaire to be conducted

using convenience sampling method.

L. Validity of Questionnaire
The proponents will seek for a restaurateur/ MBA graduate assistance to
validate the self-made questionnaire.
