The document outlines standards for storm drainage systems including requirements for roof areas, courtyards, and courts to collect stormwater runoff. It specifies approved materials for rainwater downspouts and piping based on the height of the building. Requirements are provided for roof drains, overflow drains, connections, installations, and testing of rainwater piping. Guidelines are given for sizing rainwater piping based on rainfall rates and accounting for additional runoff from adjacent vertical walls.

5. Rainwater piping commencing 0.60 meters from the exterior of the building * approved materials
- Connections and Installations
a. Rain water piping shall not be used as vent, soil and waste pipe b. Rain water piping shall be protected c. Roof drains, overflow drains, rainwater piping shall be tested - Roof Drains *Materials should be made of Cast iron, Copper or any corrosion resistant material *shall not be less than 102 mm above the surface of the roof **Strainers **Dome type Minimum total net inlet area = 1 1/2 times of the area of the outlet pipe **Roof Deck Strainer can be a Sun deck or Darking decks and shall be a Flat surface type Total net inlet area = not less than 2 times the area of the outlet pipe *Interior roof drain shall be made of cast iron and watertight *Outlet connections shall be inside caulk and female screwed
- Sizing of Rain water piping
a. Rain fall per hour given the roof area in m2 *Manila Area = 102 mm/ hour (rainfall intensity) b. Vertical wall area adjacent roof area below 1. One wall - add 50% of area of the wall to the roof area 2. Two adjacent walls - add 35% of the total wall areas to the roof area 3. Two opposite walls (same height) - no additional area to be added 4. Two opposite walls (different height) - add 50% of wall area above top of lower wall to the roof area 5. Three sides wall - Add 50% of the inner wall below the top of the lowest wall - plus allowance for the area of the wall above top of the lowest wall 6. Four sides - no allowance for wall areas below the top of the lowest wall - add for areas above top lowest wall 7. The area of the side of a tall building exposed to rain is taken as 1/2 of the cross area
