LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 7

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
 Determine the different levels of Biological Organization
 Explain and give example of each Level of Biological Organization
 Compare and Contrast the Levels of Biological Organization
 Create a flow map of the sequence of levels

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Levels of Biological Organization

A. Science Concept
 Living things are highly organized and structured, following a
hierarchy that can be examined on a scale from small to large.
 There are different levels of Biological Organization
 Each level has a specific purpose and a special work to do.

B. References
 Earth and Space 7 Textbook pp. 23-25

C. Processes
 Observing, Identifying, Describing, Explaining

D. Materials
 Visual Aids, Bond Paper, Colored Papers, Colored Pens, Glue,
Scissors, Pencil

E. Value Infusion
 Summarize the levels of organization in sequential order, and explain
the functions of each level

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
2. Presentation
A. Show a picture of Levels of Biological Organization

B. Activity Proper

 The teacher will group the students into 5 groups

 Each group will make their own model of levels of biological
organization
 Each level would be accompanied with explanation and an
example.
C. Discussion / Analysis
Group Presentation
 What did they think is the most important level? Why?

D. Generalization
 Enumerate the levels of Biological Organization.
 Explain the functions and give examples of each level.

E. Application
Think about the levels of organization in your school building. Schools
have many different structures.

For example:

 An outside wall around the entire building (like a

membrane outside a cell)
 floors in your building, each organized into rooms and
maybe the room is organized into different centers or tables
(like organelles)

Answer the following:

1. How are cells and schools alike?

2. Why might a school building be a bad example?
3. What could you make that would show how a cell is
made?

IV. EVALUATION
Identification Test (5 Points)
1. The smallest structural and functional unit of an organism (Cell)
2. The highest level of organization for living things, it encompasses all
other levels. (Biosphere)
3. The result of several organs working together to perform a function.
(Organ Systems)
4. The smallest and most fundamental unit of matter. (Atom)
5. Made up of two or more atoms. (Molecules)

V. ASSIGNMENT

 Research and study about the Animal and Plant Cells.
