Flat chisel
The shape of point is flat
straight. This is one of the most
common chisel used for cutting
bars, wires, sheets, uprooting the
floor, cutting of marbles, tiles etc.
The cutting angle of the point can
be changed as per the metal to
be cut. For normal work the
cutting point is ground to 60°
angle.

Cow mouth chisel
This chisel is named as “gouge chisel” also.
This is used for cutting circular blanks from
sheet and cutting circular cavities.

Round nose chisel
It is used for cutting of
oil grooves in the bearings,
pulleys ,bringing drill holes in
correct position when set of
center etc.It is available in the
length of 150 to 250mm and the
width is 2 to 16mm

Diamond Point chisel

The diamond point chisel

has cutting edge like a square
diamond. It is used for producing
sharp corners, angular holes oil
grooves and V-channels. The
available length is from 100 to
400mm and the width off the
cutting edge is 6 to 16mm

Cross cut chisel
This chisel is also named as
"cape chisel". It is used particularly for
cutting keyways, channels narrow
grooves and rarely for cutting flat
surfaces. The width of the cutting
edge is broader than its thickness at
the back, which provides clearance in
the keyways or channels to move the
chisel for further cutting. The width
varies from 4 to 12 mm while length
varies from 150 to 300 mm.

Side cut chisel
This chisel is used for removing metal from
slots and cotter ways, remove excess material
from the sides of castings and removing runners
and risers from the castings.
