ROLES & REPSONSIBILITES OF RIGGING ENGINEER SITE (RES) 

He / She is the appointed individual at MMH site to have overall responsibility of all lifting / hauling 
operation as per the contract and norms set by management to ensure safe implementation of 
Erection Operation.  

He / She will be responsible for planning, co‐ordination, oversight all rigging / erection work. He / 
she is designated at RES henceforth. RES shall be coordinating with all concerned, like Project 
Manager, Planning Manager, CMPC, Safety, P&M and other concerned required for safe execution of 
the work as planned & approved. His / Her involvement is not limited to the erection phase but all 
phase of the project; rather early involvement shall be helpful in deciding the plans and resources.  

Work Permit system implemented online shall be under his authorization.  

Responsibilities at least –  
 Planning team to identify all lifts in the project as per the  PLanning

category – Light, Medium, Heavy and Critical. RES to 
provide the input for planning team in consultation with 
CMPC, if required    Project 
Safety 
Manager
 Preparation of rigging tools & tackles in consultation 
with Rigger / Foreman & CMPC. Plan procurement and  RES
mobilization   
 Finalize Quality Plan with Quality team for inspection and 
testing of all tackles  
 Coordination to generate the Rigging Manual for the project  P&M CMPC
and issue the same (approval from customer not sought. This 

is document owned by L&T internally)  
 For Light category lift – Rigging Chart, sketches, issuance of work 
permit from in‐charges  
 For Medium category lift – Rigging Chart, work method  ERECTION  RES
preparation, interaction with CMPC, sketches, issuance of work  ENGINEER
permit from project manager, SOP 
 For Heavy & Critical category lift – Rigging Chart, interaction with 
CMPC, issuance of work permit from project manager, SOP  FOREMAN / 
RIGGER
 Issue approved Work Permits from Project Manager / Site In‐charge 
and all necessary coordination for the same  
 Planning modularization for projects including haulage plans  
 Necessary rigging calculation for medium & light category  
 Procurement of rigging tackles and maintaining stock  
 Checking of specification / guideline set by customer, interact with Customer and 
S/Contractor for related matters
