1.4 Machines:
DIE SPOTTING MACHINES:
It is used to check the proper mating of MD & FD. the projected
area of MD is painted with the spotting Dye. Then the mating is done and check
whether the dye is evenly applied to the projected area of the FD. If not the
required grinding or welding is done.

GUN DRILLING:
 Gun drilling is used for drilling long holes upto 1meter. the chips are
removed by the magnetic staircase.
 The coolant oil is supplied through the tool.
 The accuracy is more in this process.
 Different diameter can be achieved by different diameter tools.
 The electromagnetic bed is used to hold the job.

DRILLING MACHINE:
It is used for performing reaming, drilling, chamfering and sinking.
METAL ENGRAVING:
The metal engraving machine is used to print letters and numbers on the
metal.
CNCs:

CNC machines used are:

 CNC lathe
 CNC VMC
 5 Axis CNC
 CNC horizontal boring.
EDM:
 The EDM stands for electrical discharge machine. It removes metal
by the force generated by the electrical voltage.
 In this machine the work piece acts as cathode and electrode used acts
as anode.
 The electrode is machined externally for required profile than the
machining is carried out and the required profile is obtained.

WIRE EDM:

 The principle is similar to EDM but instead of the electrode the wire is
used for machining. It can only used for through profiles
 Before using wire it should be drilled using EDM drill for giving a path
for the wire to move

GRINDING MACHINES:
The grinding is classified into:
1. horizontal grinding.
2. cylindrical grinding.
Only horizontal grinding operations done in this company. The cylindrical
grinding operations are given outside.
ANALYSIS MACHINES:
GOM:
 GOM stands for geometrical optical measuring.
 It scans the finished job and converts it into the computer 3D
model.
 This developed the 3D model is compared with the 3D
design given by the design department.
 This gives the errors in the machining process and sent for
corrections.

CMM:
 CMM stands for co-ordinate measuring machines.
 Unlike GOM it cannot develop a 3D model but it is more accurate.
 It is uses a pobe for measuring the dimensions.

PDC MACHINES:
 It stands for pressure die casting machine.
 It is used for trials

STRESS RELIEVING:

It heats the work piece for temperature below the critical point and
perform furnace cooling (slow cooling).

GAS NITRIDING:

In this process ammonia gas is used for nitriding process. since it is gas
nitriding, the nitrogen gas diffused in the work piece.
DIE CASTING:
Die casting is also known as millisecond process. The process of creating a
casting a casting is quick process.
TYPES OF CASTING:
Hot chamber die casting
Cold chamber die casting

 HOT CHAMBER DIE CASTING:

It is used for metals low melting temperature. Example: lead zinc.

 COLD CHAMBER DIE CASTING:

It is used for metals high melting temperature. Example: aluminium,
mercury.

 Water cooling
 Die matching
 Biscuit thickness

DIE CASTING DEFECTS:

 Die not properly matching

 Die flashing
 Porosity
 Casting catch up
 Chill vent catch up
 Not running in auto cycle
 Full shot not coming

DESIGNING:

 QAD CAD
 Die design
 flow design

QAD CAD:
This team gets the design from the customer and make the proper
correction as per the process is available in the company. The customer designers
will not be considering the process which will be carried out in the company. After
making the corrections, the product design sent to the die designing team.
DIE DESIGN:
This team prepares the design for the die insert. After preparing the die
design, it is sent to the flow design department.

FLOW DESIGN:

This team takes input from the die design and QAD CAD design teams to
design the pure vent, runner, gates, chill vents and overflow. They carry out this by
changing the cross sectional area of flow path to maintain even pressure, even
cooling and solidification and neglect porosity. This done by software flow 3D
model. This software helps in running the simulation of the flowing fluid and
check the pressure, velocity magnitude, temperature and air trapped they calculate
the machine tonnage required for PDC process.

FORMULA:

Tonnage (based on project area) = (total project area) (factor of-

safety ) (specific injection pressure ) / 1000

Tonnage (based on injection force) = (total project area) (factor of

safety) (maximum injection pressure with intensification) /1000

After the flow department finishes the design, all the required designs
are assembled and dimensions are given for the standard parts of aluminium die.
This inputs are taken by the AMB software (AUTO MOLD BASE) and the mold
base and the housing design developed by the software.
1.5 VISION:

To become a globally recognised tool room for die casting mould with
cutting edge technology, emphasizing incremental innovation with an empowered
team for creating value to customers.

3.2 PURCHASING:
One role of the purchasing department is to procure all necessary materials
for productions or daily operation of the company or government organizations for
a manufacturing company this might include raw materials such as iron, steel,
aluminium or plastics but it also might includes tools, machinery, delivery trucks
or even the office supplies needed for the secretaries and the sales team. In retail
environment the purchasing department makes sure there is always sufficient
product on the shelves or in the warehouses to keep the customers happy and keep
the store well stocked. With the small business it is especially important to keep
inventory ordering at a reasonable level; investing large amount of capital in
excess stock could result in storage problems and in a shortage of capital for other
expenditures such as advertising or R&D. purchasing also oversees all of the
vendors that the supply a company with the items it needs to operate properly.

The functions of purchasing department are:

1. sample verification
2. comparison of suppliers
