In this activity, my students are going to use Popplet to create a word map to describe
life in Virginia today.

Activity This learning activity will allow students to familiarize

themselves with the characteristics of Virginia today. The
class will begin with a lesson about the different activities in
Virginia, including foods, transportation, recreation, etc. We
will explore different regions and the characteristics of each
by reading, watching videos about Virginia, and receiving
notes about traits specific to Virginia. Once students
understand which traits are specific to Virginian life today,
they will use Popplet (https://popplet.com/) in class to create
a word/picture bubble to share characteristics of life in
Virginia today. Students will be required to include
examples of:
- Food
- State bird

Technology The students will use Popplet to create a word/picture map.

account. The students will use the teacher’s account.
 1. Click on Google Chrome
Directions for Use

2. Type “popplet.com” in the search bar

3. Click “Log in”

4. Login using my account. Password – Abc123

5. Click “make new popplet”

6. Type in your name, pick a color and make it so!

7. Double click anywhere on the page and add these

bubbles.

8. Now you can customize! Add your own pictures if

you like, or just fill in the information for each
bubble by looking at your notes.

9. To add a picture, click 1, then 2.

 10. You can then add pictures found on the computer

11. Finally, click the settings wheel, then click save!

12. All done!
