EXPECTATION FROM THE STUDENT TEACHING PROGRAM

“Too much expectations may hurt you.” That is the only think that I have learned

from my experiences. Before, I didn’t even see myself standing in front of students with

chalk and lesson plan in my hand. I know that I will be stressing out because of the lesson

plan for every day’s lesson and I am too afraid to sleep at late in night. I was thinking for

the worst that may happen in my practice teaching because I know that the students

nowadays are different from my generation.

As what other said, being a teacher is a challenging profession. You need to be a

multi-tasker in this job, you can’t say “NO”. I can’t imagine myself teach a Science

subject because since elementary I hate this subject. But expect the unexpected, my

Cooperating Teacher is a Science teacher and one of her class will be taught by me.

I know that lot of my students are irritated and mad of me because of my “tiger

look” as what other said, I am easily get anger and loud voice. At first, the head teacher

of the school tells us that we should avoid getting close to our students because of the

previous issues which is difficult for us.

I also am hoping that my students are competitive because of the K-12 program.

They are familiar with changes of the new curriculum that implemented, that is not

teacher-centered approach anymore. We are now serve as the facilitator that help to

enhance their knowledge and skills in all aspect.

REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM OBSERVATION

It is a difficult experienced for me knowing that I am not an approachable kind of

person. All students have different capacity, knowledge, likes and attitude that I need to

handle for three months. Of course, you can’t deny that there are fast and slow learners

inside the classroom. I began to realized that I should not only stick on what I have

known but instead know the why’s and how’s they will be executed.

The only thing that I set on my mind is prioritize the respectful culture inside the

classroom. And also I believed it is the only way to have a smooth sailing situation inside

the classroom and respect must be exist. I always start my class with a prayer that led by

one of my student. They are allowed to express their thoughts, share their experience that

is also related in our lesson. I also asked them if they have any clarification, addition,

suggestion regarding to our lesson in that day. As much as possible, every day all of them

has a recitation in my class and pursue them to speak in English language.

Trouble is very prohibited for my students because I inculcated to them that we

are family and if there are small fights I become a peace maker. Even though they have

different attitudes and circle of friends they will unite when it comes to music. When they

don’t have classes their hobby is to sing together as their bonding.

Regarding to the activities and project I am very strict to them, most of them

passing their activities late or a day after the schedule date that makes me annoy. Girls

are too lazy compared the boys even though I already sent their assignment in group chat

for those absentees.

SELF-ASSESSMENT ON READINESS IN ACTUAL TEACHING

At first, I do not know what to do, I do not where to start, I do not know how to

stand and speak in front of them. I am afraid of public speaking; I am afraid to approach

and I hate to be a center of attraction because I am not good in speaking. In short I am

lack of confidence and knowledge. But I chose to be positive and told myself that it will

be the last challenge that I need to conquer and I just go with the flow.

During the internship, the students needed to have a purpose to enhance and to

develop something from them, the skills that they need to improve, self-control,

communication and self-engaged learning. I began the lesson to caught their attention. I

used different kind of instructional materials that help the students to easily understand

the lesson and to be more interesting while discussing. I always recall the previous

lesson, to assess the students if they understand something. As a K-12 students the

approach that they need to adapt are hands-on experience. I believed that the learners

learn by doing or experiencing activity.

Quizzes is part of lesson plan, after I dismiss their classes I prepared an activity to

assess. I let them to seek for the answer in my questions that have an open ended

question. It can be written or oral. Of course, I gave them a homework to serve as

enrichment or advanced reading for the next lesson. Lastly, the lesson was gradually

connected to introduce start the new lesson.

COMMON CLASSROOM PROBLEMS

Classroom problems was important to make me ready of the possible things that

may I encounter in my internship. Within 60-day stay in the assigned cooperating school

I encountered some problems that help me to learn.

Learners have different in terms of characteristics, attitude, behavior, likes and

believes that lead to classroom problems which makes me hard to get along with them.

The common issues that I encountered during my off-campus experience are; first they

have different interest that I need to accommodate. I do my best to make their feeling

comfortable with me. As one of the rules that was given to us, don’t let our self be close

with my students. It is difficult for me, because how I can manipulate the students if they

are far from me. Instead of giving up on their attitude and behavior, I though a way to

cope them up in every discussion. I gave them some piece of advice when they feel are

giving up. I shared my experiences to empower them.

Another problem that I encountered is when in discussion they wanted it to

become spoon feeding. You need to force them to answer your questions. They also think

that I have a favoritism which is strongly in favored with me. Someday, if I will give a

chance to become a teacher I brought all the things that I have learned from this

experience. I will consider the strengths and weaknesses of each learner. I won’t let them

hurt and discriminate by other person. I will become a great model and inspiration.
FINAL DEMONSTRATION

On February 28, this is the day that our adviser Mr. Jake Raymund Fabregar

announce that on next week March 06 will be our final demonstration teaching. We are

all shocked because we only have 6 days for the preparation in lesson plan, instructional

materials and practice for the last task as a practice teacher.

At first, I chose the literary piece “Dreams Deferred” as my topic for my final

demonstration teaching which I think that my students will easily cope up with this

lesson. When I pass my draft our English Teacher who checks my lesson plan rejected it.

So I change my topic, and it will be the “Elements of the play” but again it was rejected.

My Cooperating Teacher Ms. Mylene Arandia, our Head Teacher Ms. Isabelita

Tanael and Ms. Marita Diloy suggested that I should choose a grammar as my topic. It

could be “active and passive” or “direct and indirect speech.” The two lesson who makes

me confused while teaching it to my students. But at the end, I chose Direct and Indirect

Speech in which for me it is the easiest. I got procrastinate to the point that I will not

allow to teach my Grade 9 Antipolo and not taking my lunch time just to finish my lesson

plan because I am the only one who does not already finish in the detailed lesson plan.

This time, Ms. Tanael who helped and give me an idea about the motivation that I

can use for my demo teaching. After three tries and making a detailed lesson plans, the

last one is approved by Ms. Marita Diloy. She checked it carefully, Ms. Mylene Arandia

and Ms. Marita Diloy has a big role for my final demonstration, they give me a tips and

advices that I can apply while I am in front of my students. My cooperating teacher, Ms.

Arandia is she is the one who helped and provide my instructional materials
OVER-ALL REFLECTION AND SELF-APPRAISAL

When practice teaching comes and announced that we will be assigning in

different school I don’t feel any nervous nor excitement. It is just a plain reaction because

I already prepare myself and think for the worst things that may happen. I was assigned

with my best friend at Lumampong National High School-Calumpang Annex. That was

my first time to heard that school although LNHS is familiar but I am not aware of

Calumpang Annex. When we were given a chance to choose a school that we want to

assign, me and my best friend chose LNHS-Main Campus because it was too quite near

in our home. But luckily, I went to LNHS-Calumpang Annex. I believed that God’s bring

me there because he has a purpose and better plan, so I accept the fact that this school

mold me as a better teacher in the near future.

January 21, 2019 was our deployment as a student teacher in Lumampong

National High School-Calumpang Annex. Before we go to the cooperating school, me

and my co-student teachers meet up at Jollibee Indang at exact 6 in the morning and

arrived in school at 6:30 am. We wait our adviser for an hour for the endorsement. When

they arrived, Ms. Lumine Crisostomo and Ms. EvelynGrueso together with the beloved

head teacher of the school Ms. Isabelita Tanael oriented us, she also discussed the rules

and regulations that we need to followed. Since there are only two English teachers and

we are 6 English Practice Teachers, Ms. Mylene Arandia, a Science teacher was

appointed as my cooperating teacher for the whole quarter.

I have two handled sections; the Grade 7 Acacia for Science class and the Grade 9

Antipolo for English class. My lesson plan in English was checked by Ms. Marita Diloy,
