Re-Murder of Monette Bernardo

1. Spot Report dated March 21, 2019 with subject: Shooting
Incident.
2. This pertains to the update of the case of Monalisa “Monette”
Bernardo who was slain on March 21, 2019 at about 8:13 in the evening along Makiling St., Brgy Olympia, Makati City.
3. Please be informed that a certain Claudine Cherrie Magno,
close friend of Monette and a resident of 1393 Apartment J, Angono St., Barangay Poblacion, Makati City and Catherine Lantic C Villanueva, personal Secretary of Monette, and a resident of 6744 Tilo St., Barangay Pio Del Pilar, Makati City were invited to this office for investigation. Both claimed that Monette have several personal bank accounts here and abroad. Catherine also claimed that Rico Millarez, the common-law-husband of Monette instructed her to cut the postpaid account of Monette with Globe Telecom for unknown reasons.
4. Likewise, Mrs. Delia Bernardo, mother of the victim, gave her
testimony and at the same time executed an affidavit of complaint on May 27, 2019. Highlighted in the statement of Delia Bernardo is that, Rico forced her to sign the bank waiver for him to claim the bank account of Monette under her name. Probers also interviewed some persons of interest namely Marilou T. Alipater, Monette’s former household and her husband, a certain James Alipater, a security guard as persons of interest. Both claimed that Monette sued them in Court for Qualified Theft and despite of the said charges against them, it has never came to their mind to get even with Monette.
5. On May 29, 2019, investigators again invited Jing Millarez for
investigation. According to Monette’s friends, Rico and Jing promised to give the dash cam of Monette’s private vehicle for possible identification of the suspects but up to this date, they did not give the CONFIDENTIAL dashcam and instead, they brought the vehicle somewhere in Cavite. According also to Monette’s friends, Jing Millarez got all the personal belongings of Monette such as branded bags, jewelries, undetermined amount of cash money, cell phones, laptops ATM and assorted bank passbook.
6. As of this date, this office is collating additional circumstantial
evidence that could link Rico Millarez as principle suspect in this case and possible filing of Murder against him before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office. There were several inferred information gathered linking him in this case on the ground that he brought the cell phone of Monette in the US contrary to his claim during initial investigation that the said cell phone is lost. Second, he was the one who requested for the closure of the joint Globe Postpaid account of Monette and Jun-Jun and lastly, he claimed that he already appeared with the NBI and begging for the speedy solution of the case but during validation with the NBI, Rico never come back for questioning despite noticed of the NBI investigators.
