Why PU system
• If the base value is selected properly then pu
impedance of transformer is same from both side
• PU impedance of transformer consisting three single
phase is same as pu of single phase
• PU impedance of one base can be converted to
another base easily
• Manufacturer usually provide impedance of Machine
in PU if not provided then it will be easier in assuming
PU value rater than numerical values
• When PU is adopted then system parameters tends to
fall narrow numerical range so computation will be
easier or erroneous data can be handled
