Course Title Total Quality Management


Course Description This course will provide the students with the underlying principles and techniques of Total Quality
Management with emphasis on their application to technical organization. Discussed the emerging tendencies
toward global competitiveness, understand different perspective on quality into product and service describe the
importance of developing a strategic plan for total quality management.
Course Credit Three (3) units

Educational Mandate VISION: QSU as the leading center for academic and technological excellence and prime catalyst for a
progressive and sustainable Quirino Province and Southern Cagayan Valley
MISSION: Develop competent and morally upright professionals and generate appropriate knowledge and
technologies to meet the needs of Quirino Province and southern Cagayan Valley
GOALS OF THE COLLEGE OF HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY MANAGEMENT
1. Production of academically competent, morally upright individuals with entrepreneurial skills;
2. Development of sustainable community-based livelihood;
3. Strong partnership with hospitality and food industry
OBJECTIVES OF THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT
1. To provide broad academic and technological background to prepare students for managing the
challenges or living and working in a diverse global society
2. To provide students intensive training and wider exposure to a variety of relevant activities to develop
desirable ethics and entrepreneurial skills making them confident to assume managerial/leadership
roles in their respective fields of specialization;
3. To raise manpower technical capability of the institute to generate viable livelihood technologies;
4. To strengthen the function- based technical support and facilities for the promotion of sustainable
community-based technologies; and
5. To establish linkages with hospitality and food service providers for resources sharing the greater
Opportunities for more collaborative endeavors.
PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Graduates of the BSHM are professionals who:
1. Are able to perform work activities effectively to the standards expected in the operation required in the
Tourism Industry/ hospitality sector. (COGNITIVE)
2. Undertake task, functions, duties and activities in the operation of the hotels, restaurants, travel,
government and non-government agencies in accordance with the competency standards.

3. Are able to analyse situations, identify problems, formulates solutions and implements corrective and/ or

Program Outcomes A graduate of BS in Hospitality Management should be able to but not limited to: (CMO 62 series of 2017 sec.
6.5)
1. Produce food products and services complying with enterprise standards;
2. Apply management skills in Food & Beverage service and operations.
3. Perform and provide full guest cycle services for front office
4. Perform and maintain various housekeeping services for guest and facility operations.
5. Plan and implement a risk management program to provide a safe and secure workplace.
6. Provide food & beverage service and manage the operation seamlessly based on industry standards.
Course Objectives/Learning At the end of the semester, the students should be able:
Outcomes 1. get oriented with the subject background and the mandates of the university;
2. gain a clear understanding on the primary elements, core concepts and benefits of total quality
management;
3. compare and contrast the different dimensions of product and service quality;
4. recognize the contributions of quality gurus in quality management;
5. apply the 5s in everyday life;
6. apply planning tools in quality management;
7. Demonstrate effective customer service.
