Radio Tab

Radio Frequency
• Duplexing – Select FDD or TDD mode
• TDD- upstream and downstream on same channel
• FDD- upstream and downstream on different channels
• Channel – Select the operating channel
• Regulation - Current regulation of the unit (FCC / ETSI / Other / etc).
• Band – Change the band of operation (5.2 / 5.4 / 5.8 GHz).
Changing a band may also impact:
• DFS configuration (according to regulation)

• Mark all channels in SU scan list.
• Channel BW – WipAir 8000 3.5/5/10/14/20/28/40/50 MHz.
– WipAir ACE 5/1020/40/80 MHz.
• Fix /Auto – SU only
• Auto allows the SU to scan for MU in other bands and BW after 3 minutes offline
• Diversity - Configure Antenna diversity mode:
• On – units transmits redundant data on both paths
• Off – units transmits different data on each path
• Auto – diversity configuration is dynamic and automatic. If the difference between the
radio paths is > 10 dB, diversity change to “On”.

Note: Band & channel BW must be identical for the MU and its SUs.
Radio Tab

Power Management
• TX Power – Configure the maximum unit’s output power.
• Antenna gain – Configure the actual Antenna gain.
• Cable loss – Configure the Cable loss between the radio and the antenna
• EIRP - Calculation of Peak TX power + antenna Gain
• Mean EIRP - Calculation of AVG TX power + antenna Gain

Note: The radio limits the maximum TX power according to regulation (FCC/ ETSI/ etc.)
Radio Tab

Advanced
• Unit Type – switch unit type between MU & SU and vice versa.
• Unit Mode – Define the system operational mode (MU only):
• PTP – Point-to-Point bridge mode that maximizes PPS. This mode is recommended for
high capacity backhauls.
• PTP+QoS - Point-to-Point switch mode that includes built-in QoS with 8 priority queues.
• PTP TDM - Mode for TDM over IP links to guarantee prioritization of the E1 traffic. In this
mode the link is symmetric.
• PTMP – Point-to-Multipoint switch mode that includes QoS with 8 priority queues. In
PTMP mode, the MU supports multiple SUs in a star topology. This mode is optimized for
minimum downlink latency applications.
• PTMP Access - Point-to-Multipoint mode that includes QoS with 8 priority queues. In
PTMP Access mode, the MU supports multiple SUs in a star topology. This mode is
optimized for high capacity applications.
Radio Tab

Advanced
• RSSI Buzzer – Enable/disable the RSSI buzzer.
The buzzer is beeping at four tone levels:
• Fast - highest signal obtained so far.
• Medium - the current RSSI is lower than the highest signal obtained so far.
• Slow - the current RSSI is much lower than the highest signal obtained so far.
• No sound - no reception of the base station at all (or the buzzer is off).

• DFS – Enable/Disable Dynamic Frequency Selection. DFS technology is mandatory for specific bands
and regulations. When not required by regulation, recommended configuration is DFS disabled.

• Backup mode – MU only.

• None – For 1+0 links
• Ethernet Only – For 1+1 backup of data link only
• TDM – For 1+1 backup of TDM links
Radio Tab

ACS – Automatic Channel Selection

Enable/disable Automatic Channel Selection (MU only).

Initial scan :
on power up, the MU scans the spectrum (RF analyzer) and selects the channel with lowest
noise level at the MU side.

Online operation:
During operation the unit will automatically change
to one of the channels that is selected in the channel list,
if predefine threshold reaches the lower modulation limit
for more than 30 sec.

Re-activate ACS manually –

“Perform ACS” button will immediately repeat the initial scan.

Note: manual channel selection is not possible when ACS is active.

Radio Tab

ATPC – Automatic Transmit Power Control

ATPC automatically reduces the TX power of the SUs to a pre-defined level ATPC Power level.
The ATPC is mainly used to prevent self interference between PTMP SUs (near-far SUs on different
links).

Encryption
Enable/disable 128-bit AES.
Note: the pre-shared key must be identical for the MU
and SU.
Radio Tab

Time Synchronization
Configure time synchronization (eliminates self interference between collocated MUs).

WipAir supports internal and external (GPS) synchronization:

• GPS synchronization:
• Configure all MUs with: ‘enable’ + ‘slave’.
• Connect the MUs’ sync port to the GPS output.

• Internal synchronization:
• Configure one MU with: ‘enable’ + ‘master’
• Configure all other MUs with: ‘enable’ + ‘slave’.
• Connect the MUs’ synchronization port to each other.

• DL/UL ratio: select the % of DL and UL. This configuration must be identical for all synchronized MUs.

• Signal Count: when synchronization is connected and configured properly, the signal count value will
advance (1pps)

1+1 Ethernet

WipAir links in 1+1 Ethernet configuration operate in hot

standby mode:
• One link is active.
• Second link is inactive (standby). As such, both links may be
configured to operate on same RF channel, saving valuable RF
spectrum.
• When failure is detected in the active link, the backup link
automatically becomes online (automatic detection of less than
50ms).
• Make sure that S-IDU has the proper 1+1 licnce and backup
ethernet is enabled in both SIDUs and Radios
This mode supports SIDUs with TDM and will backup both
Ethernet and TDM traffic (in such case, SIDUs should be
configured as master/slave and NOT received
configuration from ODU)
1+1 TDM (using splitter)

WipAir links in 1+1 TDM configuration operate NON hot standby mode:
• One link is active.
• Second link is active and operational, but traffic will not be passing via this link. As
such, both links should be configured to operate on different RF channel / Band.
• When failure is detected in the active link, the backup link automatically becomes
active (automatic detection of less than 50ms).
• Configuration for this mode is done via Radio’s management only (SIDUs should be
configured to receive configuration from ODU).
• Make sure that S-IDU has the proper 1+1 license and “backup TDM” is enabled in
both SIDUs and Radios.
