ABSTRACT

This study is entitled “Bilingual Translation: A Tool to Appreciate English

Literature” is a study of bilingual translation approach. The design used in this research

was qualitative descriptive. In the accomplishment of this purpose, the researchers

conducted their study with the use of an in-depth interview with 10 participants who are

students of Gabriel Taborin College of Davao Foundation, Inc. The interview was

guided with three main questions and each main question has three to four sub-

questions. The process used to analyze the participants’ answers was thematic

analysis. Out from the ten interviews, there were four emerging themes which are:

difficulty of terms used in literature; bilingualism is a tool for successful comprehension;

poor comprehension leads to less interest in literature; and self-efforts in improving

English skills. The results of the interview with the students proved that bilingual

translation is indeed a tool to appreciate English literature.
