 Artistic Intention
I made minor changes to the classical story of Hansel &
Gretel by adding modern devices like cell phones into the
story. The piece portray the positive and negative side of the
classical story as well as a combination of light and dark with
two sets of mood and perspective of the story. With the
devices added, the story changes. From Hansel and Gretel
getting lost in the wood and finding themselves in front of
the witch’s candy house, it was change to how they were
purposely going there. With cellphone and social media, the
witch’s house was spread throughout the internet due to it
unique house feature and was popular among kids. With
social media, the witch took the advantages of it and now
she does not needed to go hunt for food anymore since her
prey would be coming toward her willingly.
