My Clonberne National School Memories by Aoibhinn Madden.

 JUNIOR INFANTS

I remember on the first day of junior infants I was very nervous and excited at the same time. When
mum and I arrived at the door of the classroom. Mrs Lyons made me feel very welcome and gave me
a nametag!  I knew lots of people already from crèche but there was still lots of people I didn’t know
who I got to know throughout the year.

SENIOR INFANTS

In senior infants our class was split in two, half with Ms Byrne and the other half with Mrs Lyons. At
this stage on yard, all the girls had started creating girl-bands and we would have auditions for who
could be in them! I believe this caused some arguments…

1ST CLASS

In first class our teacher was Ms Byrne. We went to Athenry Castle and Kardio Kids for our school
tour and I have to say it was one of the best school tours I have had!

SECOND CLASS

In second class Mr McHale left our school and a new teacher came called Mr Tevenan. Mrs lyons
became our new principle, so then Mr Tevenan was second class teacher! I made My First Holy
Communion in second class which was lots of fun!

THIRD CLASS

In third class our teacher was Mr Tevenan again and it wasn’t the best year I have had!

FOURTH CLASS

In fourth class we were in with Mrs Lyons and this year we had started playing football on the pitch
and doing football tournaments and trying out for cross country and we had lots of fun doing this !!

FIFTH CLASS

In fifth class our class was split up half with Mrs Lyons again and half with Mrs Finnegan, I was with
Mrs Finnegan! I remember being part of and watching school matches. Sometimes we could have
been a bit too loud while watching them and some of us might have been asked to leave the pitch !!!

SIXTH CLASS

This year I think we were all really excited to be the oldest class in the school and we did do really
fun things like football and soccer. We saw musicals with Mrs Finnegan and Mrs Mahon and Secret
Santa and it is a pity that we couldn’t finish the year right because I know we would have had lots
more fun things to come! I really liked sixth class because we could always have a big laugh at
everything!

I have had a great seven years in Clonberne National School. I know I will miss this school a lot
because I have loved being there so much  and I have so much memories from throughout the
years.
