Multiple Choice

Essay Monitoring learners’ emotions can give insights for the necessary teaching adjustment to ensure that learning takes place. Some useful

phrases that can be used to detect learners’ emotion towards their learning are:

* I am interested.

* I am bored.

* I am surprised.

* I am panicking.

* I am frustrated.

Start the day by letting the learners express what they feel at the moment. They may draw what represents their emotion or choose from

the premade emoticons provided by the teacher. Ask them to monitor it all throughout the class period.

They may answer the following questions:

* When did I feel that emotion?

* What made me feel that emotion?

* What did I do about this emotion?

* How did it affect my class performance today?

In reality, it would be difficult to assess the emotion of each student, given their number and the variations in their experiences. But they

may be allowed to talk with their seatmate within an allotted time to explain what they feel. This kind of activity promotes self-awareness.

ENCOURAGE PRACTICES FOR SELF-CONTROL

It is not enough to be only self-aware; learners must also respond to their emotions properly. Introduce some activities that can be done to

release their tension. It may be through writing or drawing activity, moving the whole body, and singing a song.

CONVEY CARE ABOUT THE SUBJECT

The things we care about are the things we also think deeply about. Merely liking a subject is not enough, learners must be interested in it.

The role of the educator is to demonstrate why learning a material is relevant to one’s life. For example, in Mathematics, having a

meaningful experience means refraining from seeing algebraic expression as nothing more than just formulas written in books, but a

representation of the values involved in the lines of electricity posts or the arc of bridges.

EMPLOY EMOTION-STIMULATING ACTIVITIES

The more an experience has emotional impact, the greater the chance of its associated information to be remembered clearly and

accurately. In creating a task, consider the activities that evoke emotion like simulation and role-play. These tasks could make the

information come into sight if the person is placed in a similar situation in real-life.

Social interaction with the involvement of the entire body is said to provide the most emotional support. Examples are games, field trips,

interactive projects, cooperative learning, and physical education.

It may be challenging to deviate from the traditional cognitive-focused instruction, but it is possible. Educators can support students’

learning while attending to their emotional needs at the same time. The importance of intellectual intelligence could not be disregarded, but

emotional intelligence is definitely another important life skill to be developed. School institution is supposed to be a place that develops the

learners holistically. If emotion is removed from the picture, then education fails its main purpose.
