Equipping 21st Century Teachers with
strategies with the new normal
Learning Outcomes that are aligned with
learning Competencies
Mental health is not a joke. It is as important as physical
health. We must break the stigma. We must know how to
listen and look for the signs. There is no single cause for
mental illness. Several factors can contribute to risk for
mental illness but what is important is our response, our
compassion, our understanding, and love.
As I listened to what the speaker says about Academic
Honesty, it slightly worries me that these students will
become our future teachers, politicians, or doctors. If they
can do academic dishonesty at a young age, what more if
they are already adults? the classroom is where these
questions are answered, and teachers are responsible for the
integrity of their classroom. They should not only be
reporting students for cheating, but also, explaining what
cheating looks like in their course. Teachers need to show
compassion and understanding as we transition back into in-
person learning. They need to understand why students
struggle, where the temptation to cheat comes from, and how
to help prevent it.
As of today, we have 21st century learners, where they know
how to use technology at a very young age. So, for us to
teach them, we must use 21st century strategies. In this time,
the teacher will act as a facilitator and guide the learners to
come up with the idea. To sum it up, discovery learning is
in, spoon feeding is out.
Learning competencies serves as a guide to the teacher on
what he/she expects for the learners at the end of the school
year. Thus, these competencies must relate to the learning
outcomes. Competencies help students draw and build upon

school, students develop and apply competencies through
subject-area content and learning experiences.
Higher order thinking skills are skills that the teacher must
teach the learners “HOW TO THINK” and not “WHAT TO
THINK”. These skills help the learners to organized ideas
and to think outside the box. These skills may help the
learners not only inside the classroom but also in real life.
Everyone agrees that goals should be set regularly and
adjusted frequently based on the most important priorities at
that point in time. Setting clear goals that you believe in will
help guide your decision making and will also help drive
you to action. Just like inside our classroom, we have our
goals at the end of the school year. These goals helped us to
think of plans on how to achieve it. It may be self,
professional or learners’ growth. Whatever it is, setting a
goal will help us to reflect and plan.
When I gave birth with my youngest, I didn’t expect that I
can use all my seminars, studies, and experiences on how to
teach learners with special needs. As a mother and as a
teacher, we all need that patience to help them and most
important of all ACCEPTANCE. Accepting the fact that
they will live an exceptional life than the others. Acceptance
will help them on how to live a normal life like others.
Teaching them life skills will help them live independently.
Disability is not a hindrance to success.
Research is the most valuable tool to understand the
complexities of a problem, disapprove lies, uphold truth, and
build on to create knowledge that is reliable and authentic.
Conducting research develops a better understanding and
enhances decision-making capabilities. It also helps us to
innovate new strategies for improvement.

School Disaster Management
Production of Reading and Numeracy
Materials
The safety of schools is important and DRR aims at reducing
the vulnerability to, and impact of disasters on schools. It
prepares both teachers and students for potential disasters,
thereby reducing the impact of said disaster. We have
Contingency plan to know what we need to do, where to go
and how can we protect our students when an unexpected
calamity occurs.
Instructional Materials are materials that we used to aid us in
discussing every lessons effectively. As we all know learners
especially in the elementary most of them are visual
learners. So, when we gave an example like mockup of the
earth, they will know the lesson easily. Reading and
Numeracy, are one of the important skills a child should
have. To motivate them more in arithmetic and in reading
we must use colorful devices that are applicable to their
level.
