Philosophy: “Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because
then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember

Reflective Journal: This is His Story

Mr. Nikko Nabasca Gorne finished his Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English at
Davao Vision College Inc. last April 3, 2018. Before he ends his studies in that institution, he
was able to spend a wonderful amount of experiences which created a lot of friends and
acquaintances and built the self-confidence that he has.
The turning point that made him so involved in school activities was the departmental
election in 2016, where he, who was a third year college back then was elected as the vice
president of the education department’s organization SES (Society of Education Students).
Since then, he started to become so involved that in the 2017 departmental elections he was
elected as the new president of the education organization. That time was also quite engaging
that DVC started joining some interschool organizations for different departments. The IT
department joined the PSITS and the education department joined UFED (Union of Future
Educators of Davao). As the elected President, Mr. Gorne joined the meeting conducted in
Rizal Memorial College where he was elected for an executive position within the
organization. He created great friends and met great and big people who are involved in the
education field.
When he finished his studies last April 3, 2018, he wanted to take the LET or Licensure
Examination for Teachers in that same year, but things went against him when his TOR and
Special Order weren’t accomplished in the date where he needs it for the filling at the PRC
centre in Davao. Thus, he instead took the March 2019 examination and passed.
After his great success in the stepping stone of the professional field, he tried his luck and
applied for a teaching position at Mindanao Medical Foundation College. A known medical
school in Davao city. In God’s grace he was accepted for a teaching position probably due to
his pleasing personality and some sprinkle of luck.
Currently, Mr. Nikko N. Gorne is teaching in the same school a senior high school teacher
and NSTP instructor. He is currently considering taking a masters in University of South-
eastern Philippines. He is still weighing the odds if it is time to take for a higher education or
probably a different calling might bring him to a different field.
