Lesson Plan
I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learner:

1. Describe the different sources of energy.

2. Give a brief summary of how energy is produced from different sources.
3. Differentiate between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.
4. Outline the pros and cons of the different sources of energy.
II. SUBJECT How Energy is Produced and Managed
MATTER
III. Materials Laptop, television, cartolina
IV. Procedures: A. Preparation
 Prayer
 Check the arrangement of the chair
 Check the attendance
 Energizer : “The Number Game”
B. Motivation
Short discussion of what learners know about electricity.

Ask the learners:

 if they ever wondered where the electricity in their power outlet
comes from.
 How is electricity generated?
 What is the main source of electricity in the Philippines?
 Why are we asked to always conserve electricity? Will electricity
run out or is it from a perpetual source?
 Name different sources of energy and list them on the powerpoint
presentation.
C. Lesson Proper

Present a diagram showing the different sources of energy in the Philippines and
the percentages of each source. This is to give the learners an overview of the
energy situation in our country. Allow the learners to compare the main source of
energy from the different regions of the Philippines.

Help the learners realize how modern society has become dependent on
electricity. From the moment we wake up, when we eat, travel, communicate,
relax, work and play, we use electricity. Our country produces millions of
megawatts of electricity yet it is still not enough. Some areas in our country still
do not have electricity. Learning about the science behind power production
should make us better consumers.
Two types of Sources of Electricity:

1. Renewable sources
2. Non-renewable sources

D. Activity
Split the class into three (3) groups and assign 2 sources of energy for
each group to discuss and report on. You may either provide them the
printouts of the resources below or have them research from the library.
Guide questions are written below.

- Give the class at least 10 minutes to discuss their ideas in the group
- After the group discussion, allow 4 to 5 minutes for each group to
deliver their output.
