Employee sends request for vacation or personal time off in advance to manager for approval.

Step 2.0 Employee is Absent from Work Due to Illness or Personal Reasons

Employee is away from work due to unexpected illness or personal reasons. Proceed to Step
4.0.

Step 3.0 Manager Receives Employee’s Request

Manager receives employee’s request for vacation or personal time off .

Step 3.1 Manager Checks HRMS to View Employee’s Absence Record

Manager checks the Human Resources system to see how much time employee has been
off to date to make sure that employee has sufficient hours remaining. If hours taken
does not exceed annual allotment, manager approves request. Proceed to Step 4.0.

Step 3.2 Manager Returns Rejected Request to Employee

If hours taken exceeds annual allotment, manager returns rejected request to employee.

Step 4.0 Employee Takes Time Off

Employee takes time off from work whether planned or unplanned.

Step 5.0 Employee Returns to Work

Employee returns to work from planned or unplanned absence.

Step 6.0 Manager Sends Absence Information to Human Resources

Manager sends information regarding employee’s time off to Human Resources.

Step 7.0 Time Off Entered in HRMS

Human Resources enters employee’s time off in HRMS.

Step 7.1 Human Resources runs Absences Report

Human Resources runs the Absences Report for organizations or individuals.
