INTRODUCTION

In partial fulfilment of the course of Bachelor of Science in Business

Administration. Students are required to practice what they have learned in

school in to the real workplace. This program is called on – the – Job Training.

The OJT program wants the trainee to be placed in a job where they will

be knowledgeable for long term employment which will entitle them to earn

from their own job. On-the-Job Training is important not only because they teach

students about their chosen career but also to bring them in the reality of a real

job. The students will be exposed to the actual work related to the course they are

taking. It is the responsibility of the managers and supervisors to utilize the

available resources to train and develop their trainees and employees as well.

One of the best methods is on-the Job Training because they will work on the

actual work place and do real work which will develop and test their knowledge

and test their competence. To have a successful practicum program, supervisors

need to assign a coach to each trainee. It is the responsibility of the coach to plan

the training program carefully and effectively.

The trainee must be able to cope up with the task given to him/ her. OJT

coach must observe the trainee if she’s doing the task given. OJT entails

significant benefits that could give trainees invaluable assets for achieving

gainful employment. The training provides the trainee the opportunity to do

Brief History

Indang derived its name from the words, inrang or “yndan”, a tree,

which was also called anubing. The tree of inrang was used to be abundant in the

local since the early times. Before 1655, Indang was under the leadership of

Silang until the people decided to pose a petition to the senior authorities for the

separation of Indang from Silang. After 70 years of being a subordinate barrio of

Silang, Indang gained its autonomy as a municipality with the leadership of Juan

Dimabiling as the first Gobernadorcillo.

The town of Indang takes a significant part in the Philippine Revolution

when Andres Bonifacio was arrested at Barrio Limbon after being defeated in the

Tejeros Convention. It was also in Indang where Andres Bonifacio was barred

from setting up a separate government and army. Some of the outstanding

revolutionary figures who are also considered as the distinguished sons of

Indang were Severino delas Alas (member of Aguinaldo during his retreat to

Northern Luzon), General Ambrosio Mojica (politico military governor of the

First Philippine Republic in Samar and Leyte), Hugo Ilagan and Jose Coronel

(delegates of Cavite to the revolutionary congress in Tarlac). Indang’s

revolutionary name during the Spanish Era was Walang Tinag which means

immovable.

The exact month and day of the municipality establishment has no

verification. However, existing documents proved that Indang was instituted

during the ‘cold month’ of 1655. Therefore, the municipal government decided

and declared December 1st as “Indang Day” which was annually celebrated by its

people.

Geographic Location and Features

Indang is upland municipality in Cavite composed of 36 barangay with a

total area of 8,920 hectares. It is centrally located in the upland of Cavite with a

the municipality of Naic and Trece Martirez City, on the south by municipality of

Mendez and Tagaytay City, on the west by municipalities of Alfonso and

Maragondon, and on the east by the municipalities of Amadeo and Trece

areas consist of agricultural croplands, agri-industrial and commercial farms

raising such as swine & broiler production, and other backyard livestock like

cattle, piggery, poultry, and other domestic animals. The municipal government

has existing agri-demo farm located at barangay Banaba Lejos. It is design to

capture the people’s interest on how agriculture works in the upland area and to

develop the farm technology to improve the crops, vegetable, poultry, and

livestock production. Likewise, the same will likely motivate the local farmers

and landowner to strengthen agriculture sector.

Indang has 25.57 km. barangay roads, 4.98 km. municipal road, 28.64 km.

provincial road, 29.64 km. national road and 46.43 km. farm-to-market roads. The

were all pavement road bringing faster delivery of goods, services, and facilities

along with the improvement on the living condition of the rural populace. On

the other hand, the 85.36% of total farm-to-market roads are not passable by

vehicles for public conveyances are buses, jeepneys and a number of tricycles

plying within the Poblacion area and nearby barangays.

communication channels make the populace of Indang well-informed and up-to-

date in terms of national and international issues. The Philippine Long Distance

Telephone Company (PLDT) and Digital Telecommunication Inc. (DIGITEL) are

Narrative Report

For a first timer on first day of work, It was quite different for the trainee

to perform and adjust to the new environment with new people around. The

trainee needs to familiarize to the new working experience particularly with the

task and duties given. It was Ms. Leilani R. Vicedo, HRM Officer IV who was

assigned as the trainee’s supervisor during the duration of the program. The

trainee was introduced to the whole staff in which the trainee found them

friendly and easy to get along with. Everyone in the office extends their help and

made the trainee to feel comfortable as the time passes by.

The first task for the trainee is filing up documents. It’s a simple task yet

burdensome because it comes in bundle.

The trainee also asks to print the daily reports, answer the telephone in a

correct manner. The supervisor seemed satisfied with the performance of the

trainee for being attentive and fast learner and do not need so much

supervisions.

The trainee performed different task at the Office of the Human Resource

and Management Office for 45 days and cautiously observed everything about

the entire operation. In rules and regulation of the HR Office for the employees,

trainees are not exempted. Rules are rules.

For Forty five (45) days, the trainee performed the OJT like a normal and

regular office employee, performing duties like collecting accomplishment report

per office, recording pass slips of every employee, travel orders of officials and

employees, photocopying of documents and providing assistance to walk-in

clients.

Over all, the trainee was happy and satisfied with the outcome of her OJT

performance and her experience in HRM Office. There are lot of experience and

skills learned and most important part of the OJT experience is the relationship

between boss and co-worker, the camaraderie that were developed between

employees and staff of HRM office.

Problem Encountered and Recommendation

The trainee had observed that the Human Resource and Management

Office adopted an old system of filing. They still used manual filing of

information of employees. Having an old system means low security in terms of

disasters like flood and fire. All the unsecured files can be lost in just one click of

a hand. Traditional filing can cause a lot of errands like accidentally putting data

in a wrong place and data might get lost.

As a recommendation, an Information Management System for Human

Resource and Management Office which is accessible and have a higher security

compared to the traditional and old style filing but since they have to consider

the budget it’s not yet possible for them to have an Information System that will

secure the Information of each employee.

CONCLUSION

Another recommendation is to save files and data to the Internet using

Internet applications that can help secure the security of files and information of

each employee.

Business Operation

A good work place contributes a lot in the employee’s productivity

and efficiency. Human Resource Management Office is located at

were well kept.

2. Human Relations

Every employee at the Human Resource Management Office has a

good relationship with each other regardless of position. They were

all kind, hospitable, humorous and efficient. The immediate

supervisor was very accommodating. The trainee can easily

approach her supervisor and she was treated with respect.

3. Tasks given during the internship

The trainee knew from the start that OJT Program is a new and
