I. Learning Objectives:
At the end of the class, the students are expected to:
interpret the meaning of the song through explaining each stanza;
create a painting or drawing by analyzing lyrics from the song; and
share viewpoints based on the ideas presented in the materials viewed.
ANALYSIS:
Use the activity as the springboard of the lesson.
Tell the students that the earlier activity has something to do with the lesson for
today.
Ask them the following questions:
1. Do you ever feel that the world is a wonderful place? When do you feel
that way?
2. What kind of things makes the world wonderful for you?
Introduce Louis Armstrong by means of saying its short background/biography.
Have the student’s form four groups. Ask them to watch and listen the song
“What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong.
Ask the students to choose a stanza from the song that they relate to and transfer
their feelings via paints, markers, etc. to the paper. (Play the song while they are
working.)
Present to them the criteria for their work.
Choose five students to present their work in front of the class.
IV. Assignment:
Read the story entitled “A Day in the Country” by Anton Chekhov pp. 279-284
on their books and look for three unfamiliar words.
