It is developed in multiple ways right from

the early years as young children learn about counting, measuring or estimating
during play. Pupils develop numeracy as they apply their mathematical
knowledge and skills in their everyday lives and in the learning areas. A

Good morning! Welcome to Pangpang Elementary School, CONTINUOUS

IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM in titled Continuous Learning and Practice on
Subtraction Makes Perfect or PROJECT CLaPS. This is ____________, your tour
guide bringing you to the place of saang and lambay, Pangpang Elementary
School.

In our trip, joining with us the TEAM CLAP under the leadership of Mrs.
Luzviminda H. Dinoy, our School Head. The school is located at Purok 6, Sitio
Pangpang, Panas, Candijay, Bohol, with a land area of 10,000 sq. meters, 10
kilometers away from Poblacion, Candijay. It was established in the year 1948.
The school is composed of 7 teaching staff.

WHERE WERE WE BEFORE?

You’re already here in your destination, now you begin to know what we were
been through before having the project CLaPS. During the administration of First
Quarter Examination in Grade 3 Mathematics last August 09, 2019, it was
identified that out of 12 pupils, only 5 pupils had mastered the subtraction of
three-to four-digit numbers from three- to four-digit numbers with regrouping. In
order to find the causes, the CI members interviewed the pupils, teacher and
parents, and recorded their responses. With the exhaustive investigation done by
the CI team it was disclosed that there are 4 valid causes behind it which includes
subtraction with regrouping not mastered, indifferent interest, inadequate
teaching aids, and poor teaching approaches. So the team aim to achieve 12 out
of 12 or 100% of grade 3 pupils can mastered the subtraction of three-to four-
digit numbers from three- to four-digit numbers with regrouping.
HOW DID WE DO IT?

In order to help the pupils, the team design and plans varied activities such
making of attractive and appropriate instructional materials, apply ICT assisted
instruction, provide activity sheets, conduct remedial instruction, conduct
consistent drill on subtraction facts using various instructional materials and
conduct interactive group activities.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

With the collective efforts of the process owner and the team, the pupils show
positive responses and gives positive result. The project CLaPS gives us the
following insights: Pupils learned better if exposed to colorful, attractive, big and
variety of instructional materials and ICT assisted instruction. Continuous learning
and practice on the subtraction techniques makes perfect. Giving due recognition
is a useful tactic to aim learning.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

For the continuous improvement of the school the team decided to roll out the
said project to the grade 4 aiming for the development of their subtraction skills
(speed and accuracy) and in preparation for higher subtraction. Hopefully you
enjoyed your journey and have a blessed day. Once again this is ___________,
your tour guide. Thank you and Good morning!
